the main issue is you have to go down every 1-2 weeks if you shoot very often.

for my case:
I stay Pasir Ris and working at Changi, knock off at 5:30pm.
Rush to Tanjung Pagar from my workplace to NSC = 1 hour
Return trip = 1 hour
Next day, same thing rush to NSC to collect = 1 hour
Return trip = 1 hour
total time = 4 hours

Cost:
One trip = $6
total = $6 x 2 = $12

It would be fine if the NSC is next door of my house and can provide 10 minutes sensor cleaning anytime i want.

SG D600 users should feel lucky, in other countries you have to ship the camera to NSC. The shipping cost is on the user and the lead time is at least 1 week.

DIY is only 5minutes.

I used to DIY clean my 5d classic sensor few years back.
The swab is not cheap and the risk is there.
I won't DIY unless the warranty is over.

Who cares as long it's a Nikon. I rather have a Nikon which shoots photos with dust specs than any other brand shooting perfectly clean photos.

I'd rather have a Nikon that performs as expected for a $2500 piece of professional gear.

It's completely unacceptable that they shipped such a flawed product and even worse that they don't have a viable solution after all these months.

And as Sukhoi37 said, it's unreasonable to leave your camera in the shop half the time for cleaning and spend hours a week travelling to NSC.

As Nikon users we should be proud to have the privilege to travel to NSC every few hundred shots. All that makes the D600 the amazing experience it is.

Hahahaha. Ok. I thought you were serious for a moment!

Not sure if this is true.. If it is, its good news :)

I wasnt refering to the official statement, but the users comments tat its a repair/replacement of shutter mechanism

Which was what NSC has been doing even before the statement?

I thought NSC was just cleaning the sensor when u send d600 in?
Whose shutter mechanism got replaced for dust problem?

Says who?

That would be great if Nikon has a real fix for it... but as far as I know, they're just cleaning and that's all...

Nobody claims to have had any parts replaced to my knowledge.

I have asked a few times about this at NSC, always the same answer : only cleaning, no part changed.

Doesn't matter to me, keeps my camera sensor clean that way.

lol, you didn't get what I said. :)

If they will change the mechanism, they will need a bigger room worldwide.

That alone will cost them.

Just sent in my D600 for sensor cleaning yesterday, i.e after the "announcement". Let's see if they will change any parts. ;-)

I stopped at NSC today. They told me 3-5 days to "evaluate" the problem and decide what action to take.

I opted for a while-you-wait sensor cleaning (keeping my receipt for cleaning as evidence in case I have to invoke "the lemon law") so I can shoot this weekend and will take back on Monday to see what the will do.
