First week of February2013. I bought a Nikon D600 & Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 mid range zoom lens and I was on vacation to Hong Kong - Macau - Korea - Taiwan & Japan just came back yesterday. I took many beautiful picture and so far find no issue of dust & oil. I guess some are not so lucky I believe dust & oil is a common thing in all camera sooner or later you need to service your camera it can be clean ask Nikon Service Centre for guidance. You can do it yourself.

you just come out from nowhere is it?
dust issue on D600 is 'self generated' even without changing lens.

This is a fact but Nikon ask all of their service center to tell the same story like you'd said

lol, amen! Jeez, I had many DSLR in my life but none of them ever required a wet cleaning and I am very anal about dirt on the image. :)

Anyways, how much is cleaning.. $2X bucks only.. Just that if you're using Nikon it's a bit troublesome to go to NSC only..

It's not about the money, I guess you know that. But of course there is no point in complaining about that. The solution is easy, simply don't buy it.

Well I agree with you on that.

Know got problem, want to buy, accept and don't complain, at least Nikon is giving free sensor cleaning until warranty expire :bsmilie:

Else there is always D700 (low price good performance), D3X (resolution), D3S (best performer of the last generation FX with pricing closer to the D800E range).

Thought dust is pretty common on dslr sensor. just need to learn how to clean it yourself using sensor swap. There are tons of information on how to clean the sensor using DIY sensor swap. No special skill is required.

No, dust that requires sensor swap is not common. Dust you can blow off with a blower is common. But it seems Nikon DSLR are an exception.

I am not sure about that. You can see people q'ing for sensor cleaning during photo marathon. If rhise dust can be blown away then there is no need for sensor cleaning service ba.

I can only speak for myself. :)

At the least they acknowledge it officially and hopefully a long term solution is in the pipeline

They didn't say they are looking into the problem though. :-(

y not send it to NSC for cleaning?

the main issue is you have to go down every 1-2 weeks if you shoot very often.

for my case:
I stay Pasir Ris and working at Changi, knock off at 5:30pm.
Rush to Tanjung Pagar from my workplace to NSC = 1 hour
Return trip = 1 hour
Next day, same thing rush to NSC to collect = 1 hour
Return trip = 1 hour
total time = 4 hours

Cost:
One trip = $6
total = $6 x 2 = $12

It would be fine if the NSC is next door of my house and can provide 10 minutes sensor cleaning anytime i want.

SG D600 users should feel lucky, in other countries you have to ship the camera to NSC. The shipping cost is on the user and the lead time is at least 1 week.

Who cares as long it's a Nikon. I rather have a Nikon which shoots photos with dust specs than any other brand shooting perfectly clean photos.
