haha went down yesterday.. served by a different cso... she mentioned that they will do a more detailed cleaning....well ill see if it works once i get my camera back.. no harm trying yeah?

I am amazed Nikon still hasn't figured out what's causing the shutter debris. Maybe they should send somebody over to China where they ordered the shutter unit. :-P

time lapse seems to show concentration of dust on the left, not randomly over the whole area. Hence high probability due to some mechanisms on the left of the body

hmm...they also give me 3 days lead time for the cleaning.

Well....thinking about it, if they do find that the problem is inherent in the design, they may have to do a mass recall. So, I'm guessing they won't announce a fix.

Exactly, they would never do that and I guess it's a design issue. The cameras sold will never get fixed properly.

My bro help me sent it in to NSC for sensor cleaning today. The technician say to leave there 1 day to do a thorough cleaning. Heard that they will need to dismantle a portion of it.
They will call us once its ready for collection.

Hope it solve the problem, w/o the need to heal those spots in photoshop so often when i get back.

Brought my camera for sensor cleaning last Thursday. Noticed about 20 random spots on my photos after about 400 photos. Receptionist said I have to leave the camera for 3 days for them to clean it up. I told them I am going for a trip the next day Friday and she said she will see if the technician can clean mine immediately. About 10 minutes later I got my camera back and the test shots showed all the spots gone.

During my trip I shot about 200 photos. The spots started coming back. One first and then others appeared. So I guess another trip to NSC is in order. I decided to drop them an email to officially record my case with them. Awaiting their response and will update the bros here.

Just return back with my camera. Was told that they will call the next day but never. So i try calling several time and finally got through. Was told to come after 4pm. The invoice states to call me 13 dec. So the actual lead time was 3 days after you send in. Just a reminder to all who send in, pls check your camera thoroughly as they claimed they clean thoroughly. I have a black line (water mark or sort of) in my viewfinder (top left corner). They clean for me immediately.

Going taiwan next week, will return and update if the spots reappear again.

I just collected my d600 today.
Went to shoot 2 ROM after that, so far no dust spot yet. :)

Just wondering are all these dust spots you guys are experiencing, only visible at something like F22, as widely reported online?

Like any other spec on any sensor it should be visible even around f/8 if you have some evenly lit and bright sky visible in your photo or if you shoot a macro with larger evenly colored areas. Why?

Received a call from NSC about my email. The person was nice, helpful and apologetic and said they know about the problem of the oil spots but that instructions for the moment are to still clean the sensors. NSC will be picking up my camera from my home and then send it back when the more thorough cleaning is done. Was promised to get it back within a few days. More importantly, a case trail will be created for my case so that there will be a record on their side in case of future references.

That's really nice of them! To collect the camera and return back to you after cleaning :)
