should it be protected by UV filter or polarizing filter?

Use UV. Make sure u dun wipe down if there are salt crystals on the lens. May get scratches.

i tried to focus on the water..anyway,i will continue to practise..

with the exception of number 2, the angle you used not very good, especially the last shot. try getting a higher angle, so that the background isn't so messy.

:sweat: The meter, is a machine. It only measures the variables it is calibrated to measure, it does not take anything else in account. It also, incidentally, has no "taste" at all. The images are dark and the colours are dull (with the sole exception of the last picture). to overcome it, figure out if the underexposure is a persistent problem with your metering, and set exposure compensation. And check your shots in the camera LCD. All new cameras have high resolution, spanking big LCDs, make nice good use of it.

I'm not sure about the D60, but my D80 tends to underexpose each photo by a little. I use center-weighted metering. So I almost always have to dial in exposure compensation by 1 or 2 steps. I think I set each step to 1/3 stop (can't remember already!), so 2 steps would be 2/3 stops of extra light.
* sorry if I'm confusing you with all this 'step' and 'stop' ...

Except for the last pic which is overexposed quite a bit, the first 3 are only slightly underexposed. You can check the histogram after the shot. If it's more or less centered, then it should be ok. IMO, the exposure for the first 3 shots still seems acceptable to me.

The meter is based on 18% grey measurement to give you the reading. IMO if you want to manually adjust the shutter speed/aperture combination to get 0 on the meter bar, you're better off using the A or S mode because you choose one, the other is adjusted for you to give the correct metered exposure.

So you need to know where to take the meter reading.

Also, it helps if you set the LCD brightness to -1 or -2. The 0 setting is a bit bright and may give you a false impression that your shot is overexposed.

Have been using my D60 for a while and the idea of getting the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 has recently surfaced. Would like to hear from the rest if I should get it now or practice more with my 18-55mm kit lens first. Was thinking that the f/2.8 would help lots when I have to shoot at faster shutter speed and using my SB-600 is not possible. Or should I save the money and get a 50mm f/1.8 since its lots cheaper and does take nice protrait shots.
