D40 users come in!

What is wrong with D40 that you need to pressure people to get a D80?
D40 and D80 metering is identical. It's just prob you didn't shoot the same scene as your friend hence not experiencing the same "problems".

As for "try that hard"... the word try is just an anology... the D40 doesn't have to waste more battery or whatever to get the "correct" exposure as compared to D80 etc

IMO, D80 metering tends to overexpose a little, then again, the centreweighted average might give a more consistent result if the framing were the same.

its something you pop out and remove from your view finder, and replace.

commonly referred to as the ocular loop helps you manual focus. i just had mine switched in. $60 for MIC version. works fine and very well.

most shops sell macro adaptors, i.e. magnifying filters.... or extension tubes etc.. what are you looking for?

MIC = made in china

try those close up filters up to +4 that should be fine.. above that its a bit more difficult to get good results..

a +4 filter will reduce the focus distance by 4 times, so for your 50mm, instead of 45cm+ its now 11cm+ focus distance

extension tubes are harder to use cuz they result in light loss and on manual focus with the light loss on a slower lens its a bit difficult to achieve good results. most people use extension tubes with macro lenses for more magnification, not on normal lenses
