Seriously, 300s is made exclusively for those who want the video function on a camera. Now, what shall we call such a gadget? Camedio? Vidmera? Well, I'm waiting for the day I could pour cups of hot coffee from my ball-point pen. But, one can't compress liquid, right? Looks like Nikon is reading too much into opinions of the masses. Time to have a firmer backbonein the R&D department. How about one-pixel-pixelate-free technology? Or moving backwards, something like the once F5 high point to shout about? Video? http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/images/cs/smilies/angry.gif

ABout the video thing it makes no difference to me. Was introduced first in D90 and now D300s. If i want a casual video take any bridge or pns will do. I will not use my DSLR to capture videos anyway that's just me.

IMHO, the good thing of having video mode on DSLR is you can use your lenses to capture the video. The shallow DOF and good quality brought by DLSR lenses make the movie so much nicer and look more pro. But it is not easy to use though.

I used a D90 for 9months and sometimes I forgot that it has the movie function.

It's called D-Movie. The fact that the DX frame has a very similar size to 35mm cine cameras makes it a bonus to have a movie feature on DX format. True, many photographers don't need it, but people in the movie industry went crazy when Nikon announced D90... Full Frame (compared to 35mm cine cameras) digital cine at a fraction of the price of RED.

Video function is great for when I travel, there will be times when the sounds of a location must be heard to be appreciated.

Eg, a basker strumming his guitar and singing beautifully, a photo can only capture so much..
So much easier to just show someone else a vid.

But I admit sometimes I also forgot my D90 got video function.

I was never interested in video until I got my D90. I was sceptical about the use of the D-Movie function initially.

for me, i only see the advantage for me to change is cos of dual card slots =P. can switch between CF and SD.

yup this is one of the only main features i like about the D300s

but i like the fact we can do a backup card in the camera itself;p

That may make the extra cost worth it I guess! :)

why cant they give us 2 x CF card slots instead...

maybe due to CF card slot bigger?

As long as the card slots can all read high capacity cards (eg 32gb and above) at the fastest speed how many card access should be fine. Though it gives users the option of using SD or CF or both?

i think they're afraid people start to think the D300s is a pro camera and neglect the D700x or whatever that is due...

but i think i appreciate the SD card already, but i really wouldnt mind the dual CF slot:)

i assume is their marketing sales methords to get user continue to use SD and CF all around.

Ai yo!

Now no body liao and Lens in my Dry Cabin keep on making noise!:(

So annoying, but my Lens told me D300s will launch around the Comex 2009 period!

Don’t know is it real or not?:dunno:

By the way, when is Comex 2009?

Any one knows about it?
