Got my D300 a few hours ago, still figuring out the cam.

The D300 making me want to upgrade already, being infected by the BBB virus. Not only buy body, buy better lenses.

I am more interested in what you had there and where is the place. :bsmilie:

Hahahah Same goes for me dude! Looks Yummy... If the food realistically aren't that yummy as u have posted... It must be ur skill and D300...

For those who already own a D300, how many pic can it take with 2GB or 4GB card?

Would be able to tell you that from D70 to D300 yes it is a big jump.
From D80/D200 to D300 not so much but you still do get a difference and is noticable plus you get more functionality and usability. It is also faster.
Battery life from D200 to D300 significant improvements.

You have tested D300 battery performance? When I first start using D200 I got around 250 to 350 shoots. But after one year of use I got around 736 to 760 shoots per battery without MB-D200. The last time of using my D200 was at my company dinner, with Tamron 17-50 I got 505 shoots from a 80% battery. I did a lot of preview and menu. Now with D300 I have yet to test it out.

dear all d300 owners, may i ask about the "dust reduction" system? how good is it? :)

very nice ! like D2x....

Does that mean it's quite loud? Won't be good for shooting concerts at Esplanade then... :what: I find the D100's shutter fairly quiet.

Some rough samples. I have no complains with my D2X, but the D300 simply 'blows' the D2X out of the water, that being true as the D2X is old technology.

The D300 AF system allows fine-tuning on focus point, took a picture of my infant boy and I could select the focus point on his right eyebrows, with the D2X, I would have been happy to just focus around that general area. Also the D300 AF tracks very fast and accurate. If you are buying this camera, the AF alone would justify the amount spent.

ISO wise, the D300 trashes the D2X. Personally, I feel the D300 has a 1.5-2 stop advantage over the D2X and only a 1 stop advantage over the D80.

The 3" LCD allow very detailed viewing due to it's resolution and the ability to live view or have camera information transferred to the 3" is a plus point for me.

To sum it up, subconsciously I have inserted my extreme four 8GB CF in the D300 and the 4GB in my D2X. I see my D2X being displaced to the status of a back-up camera.

Weird, my postings some images are still the earlier ones without the 100% crop panels. All the images should have the 100% cropped panels.

I find it louder than my D80, if that helps...

Haha... that's a tough question to answer. I think the cam is still relatively new so maybe no one has dust inside yet to test the function.

pls pardon me for re-asking my qn so many times. How fast is D300 when focusing using non AFS lens? (compared to d200/d2?) I'm not particularly rich and most of my lens are AFD, so this aspect is very impt to me.

Thanks

i am keen to know abt that too.. I have use D2h on a tokina 28-70 before .. focusing is fast and snappy for d2h but i have wish it was faster .. and using D2h on a AFS 80-200.. oh man... it just works.. very fast ..

Same as D2H....very nice slap....

is it? I tot it felt soft.too soft for my liking.

Don't remember my D100 shutter being as quiet as the D300.

Thanks for all the responses on the shutter noise compared to the D100's. Wish they state the shutter db in the specs. :D
