depend on the size of the subject you will be taking and the focusing distance. i think 35f2 cost more than 50f1.4, must be better. 50f1.4 bokeh is so bad.

i wouldnt say the bokeh is SO bad, the 50 f1.4 is a gem on its own too, and renders the blur really beautifully.

i wont post a sample of the 50mm f1.4 here, cos dont wanna OT this thread, if u want you can check out my photos tagged 50mm f1.4 in my gallery.

Anyway, every lens has their own uses, really depends on the application that its being used for. cheers!

I sold my Canon 40D already. Hope I can sell my L lens today so I can buy the D300. Buying the D300 and Nikon prime Lens is the cure to the poisonous canon L lens. :):):)

There are more potent poison in Nikon. It's just using another poison to counter the L poison. ;p

oh no!!! I saw the price those poisosonous Zoom lenses. hehehe

I add 24f2.8, 35f2 and 50f1.4 lastly AIS85f1.8 in my collection, 35@f2 is sharp enough:thumbsup:

Any nice photos there to share? Thanks. :):):)

Went to my fren's place today and decided to take some pics of my fren's kid with the 35 f/2...

This also taken with D300 and 35mm f/2. I would say this is a very sharp, versatile lens

i know this girl on the right in ur photo~ !! hahaax

great shot =)

If given the budget, is it better to get the 17-35mm f2.8 lens, and zoom it to 35mm all the way?

it will be a bit more with the 17mm wide angle but the price is... 4 times more with a f2.8... heard some of people can travel round with just 35 f2... and it's much lighter? i strongly agree and believe that when u have less... you'll be able to go full force with what u have taking great pictures...
this is what i've learned from a really helpful CS;) forum...

mmm now i am stuck on which lens to get.. 50mm f1.4 or 35mm f2...

more comments!!!

buy both. hehehe.

35mm is a good all around lens and specially if your doing portraits. I used to have a 35mm F1.4 for Canon. You can checkout this link to see how nice the 35mm lens can be in a crop sensor. But since Nikon does not have 35mm F1.4 better buy the 50mm F1.4 also. I like shooting portraits that's why I like both 35mm F/2 and 50mm F1.4.

Me and my GF just got our D300s. We have our new babies.

i second the 50mm f1.4:) best lens for the money!

Actually you can exert self control by using the 35mm all the way. This is a way to train your mental strength as commented in The Economist article.

Though I have to admit that the price is high.

I have my D300/50mm 1.4 now and I'm about to buy 35mm this week. Since the 50mm and 35mm lens have almost the same size and weight. It feels so lite to carry D300 with one of this lens. Unlike before when I used to have 40D and 35mm F1.4 which is heavy.

hey i've asked around and it seems like 35mm f2 is out of stock? where do u intend to get it? i'm planning to get it too...

I saw 2 stocks of 35mm at Orient Photo last Monday. Selling it for 480sgd. Oracle has it too. He is selling it for 430sgd only.

You can get it from Oracle... I believe it has international warranty... do check with him first...
