Tough choice between S2 and D100.. Decided on the S2..

Had it at home about 36 hours now. Work has really got busy so I have not been able to play as much as I wanted to.

Having the beast at home I have realized I have a LOT of learning to do. Having a tough go with the flash blowing out all the details, and learning how/what all the options are...

Despite this I am quite happy with the purchase. I am confident I have a new camera that will take some time to grow into, and give me lots of fun along the way..

Posted a few Night shots from a short walk around last night. 4 shots at ISO800 and 1 at ISO1600.

One thing I have already realized is that I have to really work on my long shutter handheld technique. I know nothing will replace a tripod, but a tripod is not always an option..

Cheers all!

Mike

congratulation to ur S2 purchase ... :)

Keep on working on the first part (rich) - you will get there ;)

Nikon prices will always be high ;p

Wayyy to much!

Ok.. All and all I think I got an pretty good deal. But still a LOT of money! Emptied the bank account and ran up the credit card in one quick purchase!

Bought from John 3:16
S2
AFS 24-85 ED G
UV Filter
256MB CF card (20x)

Came in around $4500 SG. Forget the exact figure.

Do you have any spare for printer, computer upgrade, digital wallet...etc.?;p

I guess Nikon is now pushing the 24-85 AFS with D100 and S2Pro, everyone seems like getting this lens with the body. What's the price of the lens seperately?

I was quoted $560 or thereabouts. That makes it cheaper than the AF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D I am using now. :(

As Ck says.. Around the $560 mark. I would not say Nikon is pushing it. Simply a matter of price.. AFS ED... Darn cheap in comparision to others...

Hmm...I have a FM2 and F4e...I wonder if I should buy this lens. Would like to use AFS on F4e to speed up...but then...can't be used on FM2...:(

The lens has no aperture ring, not so sure if it can be used on F4 series, as I remember the F4 needs to adjust aperture from the lens' aperture ring. Same on the F90 series - need lenses with aperture rings. FM2 is definitely no-no. :(

Exactly the same combination I got last week! I did some shots in a studio at ASA 100 and did a 8x12 print on a Epson 895 .. really sharp with hardly any unsharp mask.

I have a 24-85f2.8-4 .. but decided to buy the AFS 24-85 to keep in on the S2 Pro permanently to reduce possibility of dirt on the CCD.

In fact, there was dirt on the CCD when I got the camera, but only discovered a few days later. Double checked by shooting a white sheet. Got John 3:16 to bring it back to Fuji for cleaning. And its great now.

Quite amusing............one of the reason why people buy DSLRS is because they allow interchanging of lenses. No?

aarrghhh ... i am also pondering about which to get ... sigh sigh .... but of cos that's another problem of $$$ :P .... damn ....

24-85 deffinatly not perfect lens, i dont use below 30 and above 65-70, too much distorsion otherwise, this is why it is such a cheap S lens
