I don't think he's referring to the hk 24 hr cafe that just opened.

it's the uh area... opposite the paya lebar methodist church.

that 24hr cafe is quite a joke. only 24hrs on certain days of the week,if i'm not wrong! haha!

and the food pricing, i find it too steep. been there say, 4times and so far, stopped visiting them.
the food there is average only.

however, their ice-kopi is good if that's any saving grace!

the HK Street Restaurant opp. to the Paya Lebar Methodist Church and Upper Serangoon S.C is fantastic! good food! good pricing! excellent service! YUMZ!!!:bsmilie:

eh...u work there or part of the family chain...lol:bsmilie:

Yeah, I agree. The quality of the food is so-so and the price is not worth paying for. I rather go Ponggol Marina. The quality and price is

anyway, when was Kovan known as Kovan?

i've stayed in Hougang for more than 20years and ever since the MRT started up, it's been called Kovan.:bsmilie:

tat's very odd!
I lived here since the area was Tampines Way, circa 1974... Way way back...
Anyone remember the Teochew-speaking Indian guy who sold kachang puteh at Zenith theatre?
Or the smell of pig/chicken/duck farms from Sungei Punggol in the morning? ;)

"Auntie ah! Teh-O!"

i stayed in a kampung in Track 13, Punggol when i was a child.
then i moved to Hougang when the Gov. evacuated us. i remember Zenith and all its past glory... screening all the popular movies such as Raymond Wong's Lucky Ghost... Mr.Vampire... etc. etc.

ha! talking abt theatres, anyone remembers Vision Lanes? it used to haf a cinema complex. i forgotten the name... it was built in the 2nd floor, sandwiched between the old MacDonald's(before it moved to HgMall) and the bowling arena above it. extra sound effects whenever watching a movie! heh heh!

Hougang does not haf any cinema complex ever since that closed down.

Hi Cheesecake,

I also lived in the kampung at Punggol when I was very young, I forgot the name of that place already, but it is quite near the entrance to Punggol, there is a small temple near my house. I still remember my kampung house had fish pond, chicken coop and a small shed for a few pigs, just missed those kampung days.

Talk about Zenith cinema, I still can remember eating fried prawn noodles with my classmates while waiting for the show to start, it is so long ago. Now the location of Zenith is replaced by a condo or private estate, but the canal is still there after so many years.
