im interested in getting one, where would be a place with rdy stock? can anyone leme know pls, with tel no. and address thanks!

shld i get 50mm AF 50mm f/1.8D or AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G :(

:dunno:
I'm also interested to know as both are standard lens and are great for a wide range of photographic subjects, but supposely excel at portraits. Would anyone be so kind as to list the pro:thumbsup: & cons:thumbsd:? This will be my next lens aquisition.

Conclusion - Pros
Excellent image quality when stopped down just a little
Fast and accurate autofocus with full-time manual override
Generally attractive rendition of out-of-focus regions ('bokeh')
Resistant to flare
Low price
Conclusion - Cons
Slightly soft and low in contrast wide open
Lateral chromatic aberration somewhat higher than traditional 50mm 'standard' primes
Prone to purple fringing and bokeh chromatic aberration, most visible at large apertures

Tks kimsim for the posting and what I meant was the pro/con of choosing between 50mm vs 35mm other than the focal length. any advantage of 50 over 35 or viceversa?

the only advantage the 50 has over the 35DX is that it can be used on both FX and DX, that's pretty much it. the 35 is more of a standard-walk-around-lens whereas the 50 would be more of a portrait lens on a DX camera. don't get me wrong i don't mean the 50 is only used for portraits, it's just that it's focal length is more suitable for photos like that.

really depends on what you're looking to shoot. but if you happen to lean more towards a general purpsed lens then definitely the 35 would be more suitable.

Post disappeared :p

hmmm...wonder why

Wah where did you ask??
It's a good buy :)

hi all, would like to ask if any1 here has used this lens for low-light event photography before? I'm guessing that f1.8 is wide enough for dim lighting but hows the actual IQ?
