CONFIRMED! New Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G Prime Lens

has anyone did a comparisan of this lens with the AF-S 50mm F/1.4G?

what is the price diff of these 2 lens?

I was interested in this lens. But then from the pictures I saw on the web, the CA in the bokeh turns me off.

CA can be corrected but CA in bokeh is really terrible looking.

I saw the pictures on photozone. They seem to be testing it with the D200 (on the first page). According to various reviews, the newer DSLRs automatically corrects CA when shooting JPEGs (D300, D700, D90), but not the D200.

The issue is, CA "in the bokeh". Will the correction work with correcting CA in bokeh? I guess the only way is to test it. Maybe anyone who has the lens and the camera (or D700 or D90) can test it and let us know if it works?

I'm also torn between this and the 35 f2. :bsmilie:

35f2 is my take, cos 35f1.8 is a DX lens and the glass is smaller like 50f1.4 vs 50f1.8

Bokeh's CA does not have a well defined edge. I am quite sure it will be much harder to correct.

One other issue I have is the distortion -- the 35/1.8 DX has quite a bit of barrel distortion (KRW likens it to the cheap lenses found in point and shoots). I had high hopes for this lens but now having second thoughts because of this and other issues (CA, esp).

Using Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and Tokina 100mm f2.8 most of the time...every time leave the Nikon in the dry cabi..hmmm

since you already have overlap lens in your deposit.
