Trying out Digital Tele-converter on my G3 using the 100-300mm lens to get 33% longer focal length. Effective focal length = crop 2 x 300mm x 1.33 = 798mm.

See results using tripod. The milky stork was about 300m away. Hope it is sharp.

dilemma: want a smaller system to complement my current DSLR, between these few
G3 read of bad/poor battery life, but relatively cheap at RSP $1099 with 14-42 ---if got pancake zoom at 1199, may hoot...
EP3, read of poor ISO at 3200 for a m43 compared to others, ?hunt at low light? read of false AF confirmation when not in focus?
X100 idiosyncratic and slow controls and other quirks and non changeable fixed lens but good pic quality(creamy DOF that i want!) and
yet to be launch x10, rumoured GFX, rumoured X200

Passed by Courts, got G3/14-42 to play!...
like
grip feels ok , OVF clear and bright, quite easy to turn on and operate without being confused...fast AF acquisition
dislike
raw pics take some time to write?esp when take with liveview LCD, no auto sensing for viewfinder and LCD..irritating must press LCD to view after taking a shot with viewfinder, press button again to shoot with VF again, screen need to touch harder compared to iphone but then it's acceptable...
maybe will wait...

I think you've already found most of the 'quirks' of the G3.
The only thing I'd say about the interface (eg. switch between LCD and EVF) that if will get better with use.
I started off not liking it as well. Just got to re-learn the interface compared to DSLR.
If you are using the EVF, all you need to do is press the preview (ie. 'play' sign) button to review on the LCD. Thats the same on a DSLR.
You can also set the instant preview to be on the EVF, though personally I don't like that, as I find myself staring at the preview and thinking its camera lag.

Battery is a non issue.
Yes, its does not last as long, but it should last 1 day of shooting in most cases.
On any system, we'd need spares anyway. Just get 1 or 2 3rd party spares for about $20 to $30 each.

All this while, I thot it was EVF lag, LOL. Anyway to turn off preview on EVF?

So EVF should have no lag at all when I do high-speed shooting.....it is live, right?

You can turn off preview from the menu.

EVF is still only 60Hz, so there will sure to be refresh issues for fast subjects. Maybe one day the tech will be there for 200hz EVF :D

Is there such a thing as leather skin like for EP3 for G3?

Just try G3 on a new lens, Olympus 45mm F1.8.

Picture at ISO 160, F1.8, 1/400.

Has anyone got the combination of 45-175 with the G3?

I thought that'll be quite a setup.

Hi Bro, you got a G3 too? Thought you were using a Ricoh ...

Another 'P' camera user getting another 'P' camera :D

Seems like all P users are using m43s, so why don't I join the mix! Hahaha

Jokes aside, I really like the G3. I handle it once, smallish, compact, got EVF built in, relatively fast and if I include a smallish tele, it gives me good coverage and sufficient IQ without breaking my neck, so why not!

But I have not jump in yet. Waiting to see if this tele lens' as good as they've described in some forums.

For landscapes, my experience with m43s wasn't quite good, but for tele, I really think it's where such a setup really shines.

What about the 100-300 anyone? I saw some shots above, so it looks decent. Does the zoom extends or it's internal focusing?

This is nice.
There was a thread the other day in CnC that this position was not so good for taking a shot of the ASM. Certainly proven that it isn't so by your shot. :D

Trying my G3 & new Oly 45mm lens at HortPark's Butterfly Garden this Sat; this is opened from 9am - 12pm only on every last Saturday of each month. Hope to get some nice bokeh of butterflies. Join me if you want.
