I shoot mostly with EVF in G3.

I have problem doing manual focusing on LCD screen(too low res/too small for my eyesight), is using the EVF any easier? Your answer will help me in my buying decision.TKS.

Go to a shop and try it yourself. Worst case, if eyesight is really an issue, go with a Sony Nex 5n.

G3 comes with MF assist.. You will be able to zoom into the part where you want to manual focus on both the LCD or the EVF..

Guess I like to pixel peep too much on my computer screen... the magnification screen on the LCD flip away too fast for me to take a proper look. Haven't the chance to explore if I can delay the flip in the settings. Too much hassle to try it in a shop.

Thanks everyone for your response. I don't think the EVF will help in this case.

to me the EVF is a convenient accessory to help with my habit of shooting from the eye... also helps with a bit of stabalization in situations which call for it... that's why I love the G3's flexibility

I like the MF assist which allows you to pick a point and enlarge only that square box: allows you to achieve focus and composition at the same time. In a sense I think the EVF will not help unless you really love shooting from it

Hi, I have just bought this great camera too.
3 things I would like to ask for now:

Does the camera come with hotshoe cover or need to buy separate?

Is there any list where I can look at the compatible lenses and prices?

I noticed that the LCD screen framerate is very slow. Can increase?

Don't think it's the preview on. Don't u all find everything looks like ghosting or slow motion on the LCD screen?

never really noticed, will check on it again... I use it mostly for stills so I can't really get a feel of how much ghosting there is =\

How bad?
Its supposed to be at 60fps, iirc
If I pan or try to take a moving object (like a child), then its more obvious.
Normal use, I notice shutter lag more than frame rate being slow.

Depends on situation, sometimes the screen lag is like 20fps. I know nothing wrong with my set, just tot that's a setting to bump up frame rate.

So for noise reduction. Which setting u all use? I use +2 and pictures look a bit fake leh

Its supposed to slow down significantly when higher amount of processing is required, like in dim conditions, so perhaps that is what your are experiencing.

By right G3 NR in default setting is good enough.. u +2 NR is over NR so it look fake..

May I check with you are u using a sandisk ultra sdhc? or what sdhc are u using? The slowness u experience could be due to camera writing to a slow sd card..

In low light the camera is processing too much hence I felt the lag on screen. When I point at bright source everything becomes ok.

For NR what is the default setting? What r the settings u all put for contrast sharpness etc?

When u use EVF, how do u shift the focusing point? For me I can only switch to LCD screen and then touch to select the place where I want to focus.

For flash, how come there's no fill-in flash? The subject becomes too bright when I on the flash under sun. Wonder how to solve the problem.
