Well, it's mainly for exhibition, to show off Pentax' products I guess. If you want the best bargain, buy it in a store lah, or on the last day

Surprisingly, it is not Shriro manning the cashier counter for their sales. It is actually Manly Department Store (Pte) Ltd.

That was already mentioned in the ad...in 6 point fine print at the bottom right corner.

Went to the COMEX Show on the first day and see if I could get some bargain, ended up without buying anything. Walked around for about less than an hour, only caught very few models on the way. And missed the Sony's XMM show ...

And this one was taken by K100D and the new DA* 50-135 lens

The new DA* lenses work okay on a K100D, AF is abit noisy as normal DA lenses, but focusing is quite decisive. Tried them on the new K100D Super too, AF is very quite, and abit faster than on the K100D, but still slower than K10D.

Hope we'd see these new DA* lenses come to stores soon ...

Hey, don't be to lame lah. We still need Shriro to help us bring in all those DA* lenses

They've been doing a lot better jobs than the previous agent (J&J) Give them some more time and see how. Meantime we need to use our Pentax gear well and make some excellent photos, so we'd have more converters (from other Camera systems), and then the market will grow along the way.

The problem is not just them, but also the Pentax market which is quite small here, and elsewhere too ...

I've just happened upon a post which noted that the A100 body only now costs $899.

It's not tempting to me at all, but, eeks, i can see how it might be tempting to someone just starting out!

until you take into account that most sony lenses are blardy expensive =D

The lenses used to be much cheaper until the same lenses were cosmetically redesigned and rebranded "SONY" and "Carl Zeiss"

You'll be better off getting the newest tamron or sigma 70-300 or the pentax 50-200.

By most accounts the pentax 75-300 is pretty crappy.

The lens isn't that crappy actually, if you ever had one I've tried two copies, both quite good, on par of the Sigma 70-300 I had. And the AF is so much faster than the Sigma 70-300. It is plastic, but it's very light, easy to carry around. Some people don't like it because its plastic barral and mount (as all the other FAJ lenses).

Of course the Tamron and Sigma one has better mag ratio at the tele end, but you have to switch to 'MACRO' position for that. For normal shooting, this 75-300 actually can focus closer than the Tamron/Sigma (1.3m vs 1.5m)

Optically it is as good as the Tamron/Sigma imo. You can check some users' reviews here:

Oh well, it's the only lens that reaches 300mm and is still under production by Pentax currently. Guess we don't have many choices here if we want to have a Pentax lens
