Collecting K-5 tomorrow :)

Thanks bro! Is it too late if I preorder the K5 with 18-135 now? And since the 18-135 will only arrive next month, that means I will collect the K5 body only 1st right?

Not too late. Yes, you pay and collect the K-5 first.
The DA 18-135mm will only come next month, so pay for the lens when it arrives.

As there are people here wanting to how much such-and-such camera or lens is going for, the bottom line is those who pre-ordered have specifically been instructed NOT to divulge any prices to anyone else. There are very valid reasons for this, and I am not going to explain this here.

Definitely understand why Emjay is doing this, and the valid reason can simply be summed up as: D7000

Thanks bro, do you know if the 35mm f2.4 is available today? Don't want to get the K5 body then can only look at it..;p

I agreed D7000 is really a treat for all, not just Pentax, really like what it has to offer, must confess was really really tempted to go for it, after researching on the lenses for crop body I find it does not make sense comparing to my Pentax setup.

End of the day it boil down to the lenses system you owned, personally, I felt the DA*16-50 and DA*50-135 lenses (i.e. ff equivalent of 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200f2.8) give the most ideal f2.8 focal coverage for crop body today, nothing in Nikon and Canon has that unless you go 3rd party, which personally I think it defeat the purpose of buying into Nikon or Canon system in the first place.

I cannot see any reason why d7000 comes in the picture.

Silly...

Watch who you are calling silly when you don't understand things.

The D7000 and K-5 are just about matching each other feature for feature, and already it seems from overseas prices that the D7000 may end up being cheaper than the K-5. I know of people who are watching and waiting for both prices to be confirmed locally before deciding on which one to buy. With the D7000 coming out later than the K-5, Emjay would be in the disadvantage to set the price first and get undercut by Nikon.

Doing a 'private' release early is a good strategy by Emjay, they get to sell the K-5 earlier at prices that keep the buyers happy, maybe winning over some of the people waiting. When the D7000 gets released with a confirmed price, Emjay can then choose to undercut them. Because Nikon is so big, they cannot keep their price secret like Emjay can, so they will have to announce an official price when they launch the D7000.

Yes you can get the DA 35mm f/2.4 already. Those who still want to get the K-5, K-r can do so by calling Emjay direct. Also the K-x is going at a sweet price. Talk to them... The pre-order deal won't last forever...

Unfortunately I think it is you who don't understand things...
Do you know the ins and outs of the camera trade? Unfortunately not... because your simplistic armchair analysis is pretty flawed. There are many factors involved in pricing a product, certainly things are not as simple as you describe it. Emjay or any other company for that matter cannot arbitrarily undercut pricing. It will only be a matter of time before it will be public knowledge what people paid for their cameras. But it is not prudent for pre-order prices to be made publicly available as there are commercial considerations for such a price embargo. Don't just look on paper specs... the K-5 is phenomenal.

Don't really think so. I don't think the knowledge of the pre-order prices would really be that tightly shut out. Word will somehow get around. Its 60 or more ppl we are talking about.

But relax. Whatever camera and brand, if it is a good price and performance, it is good for everyone ;)

Those who bother about a Pentax will peel through the layers of detail (interface, options, performance, features,, etc) and perhaps get one. Those who don't, won't at any price. :)

There hasn't been a single pre order owner who has complained about the price. If The street price is similar, you will have a camera with tremendous price performance. If I was Nikon, I would definitely be worried.

The buying virus is spreading. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Have not seen shots on low iso 80 and 100.:)
