Didn't you guys hear? Fat gold chains are no longer the in-thing as a fashion cum status accessory - its having a DSLR hung across your neck that gets the chicks talking and the guys bitching ;)

*tongue-in-cheek*

ooh, this seems like a good thread for commoner like me..though I'm from another camp... I understand this thread title like spending something as low as $1 to enjoying good fun of photography;p

Anyway, have fun Canon users!

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

this is more ultimate then flaunting in the forums. the action speaks louder then texts in the forum.

just like what i've posted in $5k club...

theres the "picture gallery" sub-forum if want to discuss photos...

this is "equipment discussion" sub-forum, its all about gears. how hard is that???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on a cycling forum, how many are discussing about their cycling techniques and how many are discussing their modifications & upgrades? its practically the same like photography...
Agree bro :)
good that u understand. :thumbsup:
ok cheers guys! we are shareholders of CANON! haha!
this is useful actually especially when u ask for help so whoever is answering your thread knows what equipments u are using. just like hwz, u can input your pc configuration as well. but i must admit some uses this as a way to show off their equipments.
yes, agree that the equipment inventory may be useful when asking for help...but then, at this equipment inventory can be disclosed at the point when the question is asked right? I guess it's more the intention.
I'm not sure about HWZ but I would hazard a guess that HWZ is more hardware-focused where the objective of this hobby is more towards accumulating high-spec hardware to attain the best performance (DSO-mark etc). I may be wrong as well :)
it depends on the person, what is his agenda for displaying his equipments in his signature, i used to display my equipments on my signature too (not to flaunt actually) but cos i am so used to changing equipments back then that i got lazy and dun do that anymore.
let's give these group of photographers a break... have we actually seen their photographs before actually trying to dismiss them as just fashionistas who buy DSLRs as an accessory? Granted that their DSLRs may have a lot of bling factor and come in fancy designs, but that doesn't give us a reason to discount their photography skills.
:)
actually this debate will never end. others dont like to talk about how much they've spent on their gears & some are just fine...
since there are 5K & 10k club, just discuss there all you want for those are fine to discuss with...
and for those who dont want to talk about it, just stay away, that thread is not for you...
I thought this $1 club was supposed to be inclusive and not exclusive like other $-clubs :cry:
I've spent $0 on Canon gear... sigh.......
yes, agree :)
i thought of displaying my camera model, but decided not to cos I think it's not really necessary. simple analogy, my CS nick is like my business name card which i use to intro myself to ppl. in real life, in my name card, i dun tell ppl wat car i drive, or wat fancy watch i wear, it just states what ppl need to know.
again, i'm not complaining that it's no good to do it. to each its own. but just a mere social observation i'm sharing - what does our online behaviour/thoughts/writings tell others about ourselves.
yah, dats why now i display my works on my signature instead. ;p
sometimes, it's just human nature to be proud of what they have achieve or attain in life, be it flaunting openly or through sublime messages.
for one, i use to display my equipment in my signature, but feel lazy and unnecessary do it now. Now i just list my camera to display a brand identity and my preference on primes...
To be frank, if u list good equipment in your signature but feel to deliver a certain standard in the pictures you post, it don't reflect very well either. :) it all boils down to personal preference.
and i'm proud to be a member of Canon Club $1 :bsmilie::bsmilie:
Frankly speaking, i think the Club 1/5/10/20/50/100K whatever is just harmless banter. I don't think it will cause a social divide between the various clubs, e.g. Club 20K members are perceived as an elite group while Club 1K are seen in a different light. Who knows, a multi-millionaire may have just bought a 1000D and joined the 1K group.
bottomline - nothing to get excited about :)
