I wasn't intend to buy the battery and filters in rush, was thought gonna have a look for few more shops,

i did homework for 3rd party battery which price range around 25-35, but i wasn't know about the mAH value. Arggggg! i should pay more attention on physic class last time! (years ago! lol)

so he's said it is 5800mAH :sticktong and it's last 3 times than original so i ....:thumbsd:

well bros, thanks for understanding, make me feel better! lol:lovegrin:

is a good lesson for me, truly!

I'm merely rebutting the glaring errors that I see thats all.

Despite of what you see as "error". I still stand my ground as TS does not have anything concrete to substantiate his claim, except for his narration. Business requires huge capital outlay and it is too easy to register a CS account for free and say the shop has "cheated" him of $40 for the world to see.

Anyway, I do retract my earlier statement on Tony and am curious to know how he looks like. I will definitely pay him a visit and see if he is the kind of slippery character that the TS makes him out to be.

no legal advice is being given anywhere here in the forum.

I can agree with you on this one though. I don't know why there should be any impression that legal advice has been given at all? This is just a friendly discussion between 2 person who cannot agree with each other ( or one who thinks the other has a glaring error to rebutt).

is not mean that we don't want to do anything; in fact , i can't do anything!:dunno:

I hope you are not posting this just to make yourself feel better, after having been outsmart/conned/sweet talked by Tony. Other staff working at the same shop still have to run the business and have family to feed. You could have asked the questions before and not after you have paid, saving yourself $40 in the process. As you can see, there are others who have gained from this shop as well. It is terrible to see shops being hauled into notoriety for a mere $40. And please, if you do go overseas, there are no fair trading Acts to protect you. You learn to pay or pay to learn.

Yes, and I stand my ground in that assuming that he can prove that the shop did make the misrepresentation, there is no libel.

Your first statement merely said there was libel without explaning why. When questioned, you then brought up evidential issues; which is an afterthought method of debate as clearly shown in my apples/oranges example; anything can be rebutted in your method of thought by asking about evidence.

Same goes for your defamatory remark in subsequent posts.

Yup, its a discussion; I don't know why there are people who treat discussons on a forum about legal issues as "legal advice".

They probably aspired to be lawyers but fell short somewhere along the way.

I'm glad you still see it as friendly though :)

Just go th John 3:16, Cathay Photo, MS Color, Lords and you WILL NOT get cheated.

I can see there will be no end to this as our brain are just wired up differently. Even evident in the way we reply above or beneath quotes. We have helped to generate enough interests in this thread. Let's stop here. I still have my $40 in my pocket.

Heheh okok :) The most impt thing is people get to see different points of view :)

It's ok. The world is big enough to accomodate differences in opinions.

still need to do homework. I have a bad experience at one of the reputable shops too. But have returned to make a fuss and they refunded me without questions.

Sure...

I vaguely recall seeing a thread in Clubsnap in which a fellow member of the forum described his visit to Lords and how he saw someone(tourist, IIRC) having to pay more for a D700. Something along those lines.

Well, at least one person there(Raymond or Roland, can't remember) deals decently.

Take a multimeter and measure it when it is fully charge. What I can tell you is what u see might not be what u get.

wow... these worldwide guys are still around!
I remember Tony, he sold me my first SLR (not DSLR) with my first pay cheque as a photo assistant, and he curry chopped me just like he did to you... 7 years ago....

thats why they are still around.

However, with internet being on the side of consumers nowadays, they will find it harder to wring that unsuspecting random consumer anymore.

Multimeter can measure mAh meh?

$100 for a lesson learned (hopefully) is relatively cheap isn't it? Factored in the battery and filter and the TS probably paid about $60 to $70 above street price. I believe there are worse stories in the forum here that suffer far worse damage than the TS.
So not bad already lah! ;)

There are always ways to deal with these dishonest shops. If they refuse to refund you back your money then play with them.

Anyone that walks into the camera shop you went in and tell them your story.
They sure will return your money to prevent you from disturbing their customers(their next carrot).

Second this idea. Better yet, print out this thread and hand them as flyers to those about to enter the shop.

However, I'd say that you shouldn't go INSIDE the shop to mess with the customers because you will then be treading on dangerous ground :)

They can't be charge since you agreed on the selling price(Singapore law are protecting them) but if they touch you then you can call the police and sent they to jail.
