Please check the image sensor size for 7D, it is slightly smaller than my old 20D Canon. Compare with 5D even worse. Wonder how it perform under low light condition..

You ever consider, that the technology of the new CMOS Sensor and dual DIGI IV chip is alot difference from those of the 20D & 5D (which 5D is a FF sensor)....

Size isn't everything.. ;p At least not when comparing the 7D's brand new 18MP sensor against the 5 year old 20D or 4 year old 5D. Both these older cameras were great cameras in their time (I had both), but technological advances have made the 7D better despite the smaller sensor and higher MP count. Preliminary reviews that I've read so far have nothing bad to say about the 7D's AF system.

Used 70-200 most of the time. Still not enough. Damn those fences! :bsmilie:
With 200 at f4, still hard to get past the fences. Need either a bigger aperture, longer FL or both.

Actually, quite okay in some cases. You'd still see some traces of the fence but quite acceptable...

180mm. 1/500 @ f4. ISO 3200. Taken at Turn 11.

I'm thinking of renting a 300mm lens for tomorrow (rest day today)... but the cost is putting me off. :bsmilie:

BTW, sorry for the slight OT.

Yeah,.. it looks good. Try looking for holes or view ports in the fence. What's the 300mm rental going for nowadays? Sorry OT, pls delete/move as required.

7D will most likely to be out at most stores this week.

Heard that it is selling at around $2,400++, definitely cheaper than Nikon D300s.

Yeah!!!

i really hope the 15~85 can be cheaper
also being priced near to the new L lens, i hope its IQ is better than that of a typical EF-S lens
:dunno::dunno:

My feel that the EF-S 15-85 will costs around $1,100++. In this instance, I would rather get the EF-S 17-55mm f2.8.

Woohoo! I also need some money to buy a new camera bag for the 7D + lens. :bsmilie:

The difference is that at the same distance to subject using the same lens, a f/4 lens on 1.6x crop camera captures images that look closer to one from a f/5.6~f/6.3 on a FF camera in terms of DOF. So, in this case, your 'fence isolation' is not as effective.

I believe that you are going to spend quite a lot this week.

Hi, I have 5DM2, should I downgrade to 7D because of its great improvements over its predecessors.

huh. you really should see what you shoot and why are you considering (in specifics) changing to 7D from your 5DmkII?? Or is it just because something new pops up and you just want to get the newer stuffs?

wah... 40D... so clear with ISO3200... my 10D at ISO1600 can only gives this result... 40D center focus point is also at least 5 times smaller than my 10D.. i think easier to focus thru the fence... i cant focus thru the fence using centre focus point, as it cant pass thru the fence unless i am real close to the fence...

will see the 7D noise performance before deciding if i will keep my 10D longer... as day to day shoot is still very ok as ISO dnt need to be set real high...

I think his 5DMkII sensor got plenty of dollar notes stuck, so he wants to buy another camera lor :)

In terms of high ISO performance, 7D >> 40D, 50D > 20D >> 10D. So, you have other cameras to choose from. You can also consider 450D and 1000D.
