I don't think the 7D will be launch soon, a more realistic (smarter, sure win) estimate will be in the 4Q. :bsmilie:

With so many users queuing to buy, at least hundred over sets will be sold on the first day of launch.

Time to bring the cash to buy the EOS 7D.

Counting down...

I may be a little late here....

But why does the EF-S 15-85mm USM in all of the photos in website, comes in a SILVER Ring instead of 'Broken' Golden Ring like all other Lenses that has USM Motor.

Anyone knows ??

if i'm not wrong silver rings are for EF-S lenses

I guess that it is just a change of design, nothing else.

If you notice, even the wording for "Image Stabilizer" is also printed on the lens body instead of the conventional "Sticker Type".

Err... then why is the following EF-S lenses.... 17-55mm, 17-85mm, 10-22mm, 60mm Macro all having the same 'Broken' Golden Ring ??

Mmm.... Then no longer -

Red Ring for L lens
Green Ring for DO lens
'Broken' Golden Ring for USM motor lens
Silver Ring for other lens

The red ring will stay because it symbolises L series. Canon has been using it in their marketing for years, products differentiation, etc.

The green ring is also another symbolic label for their DO's lenses. Unfortuantely, there are only 2 DO lenses produced so far, so it is yet to see whether it will continue to use it.

On the other hand, "broken" golden ring to symbolise ultra sonic motor has never been symbolised by Canon. It is merely a product design which can be changed over time if Canon wishes.

Do you also notice that the word "Ultrasonic" for 100mm f2.8L is not red color anymore. The color for the word is never a symbolic label for L lenses. Hence, it can be changed.

Y the obsession with what colour the ring is painted over the lens???

For fun..... Much like how some of us here, like to talk about getting a camera that hasn't even comes out yet :bsmilie:

Since I started photography with a Canon DSLR, I've always been told that -

Red Ring for L lens
Green Ring for DO lens
'Broken' Golden Ring for USM motor lens
Silver Ring for other lens

And to have Canon release a new USM enable EF-S lens... but without the normal 'Broken' Golden Ring.... gets me thinking  Thats why wondering do anyone knows the answer....

The new toys are coming.

Time to take out your wallet to spend.

It's quite expensive when compared to US price. But then again, that's the MSRP

It appears some lucky brits have started laying their hands on it. Seeing some "got the 7d" posts in dpreview now.

Us, we'll have to wait a bit more.

If only this cam made it in time for Singapore f1, I wouldn't hesitate getting one.

My recently got this lens in HK for around S$1250 after conversion

Please check the image sensor size for 7D, it is slightly smaller than my old 20D Canon. Compare with 5D even worse. Wonder how it perform under low light condition..
