in canon camp, the small number means it is more advanced. 1D > 5D > 7D > 50D > 500D > 1000D. 7D is not one-level up from 5D (price-wise).
Maybe Canon will release a uber high-end EOS model that bears the name "0D". Then that means the next uber model will have to start with a "-ve" prefix.![]()
i don't think there is a lot of sense in worrying about what number it is, but how many digits there are.
general guide is single digit - pro body, double digit - semi pro, triple - consumer, quad - consumer
When is the EOS 7D coming to Singapore??? :dunno:
Already in Singapore. Cathay folks are playing with it on Friday...they were all excited about it and take turns to enter a room to test it out.![]()

Pro body is ONLY the 1D series. 5D series and even the new 7D are not pro bodies so the statement on single digit = pro body only applies to 1D series.
Are you sure? US has not even start selling? Check out B & H, still pending.
Even if Cathay Photo does have a piece (suspect loan from Canon), I think that it is meant for product training for their staff.

But Singapore (i.e., Asia Pacific region) receives products BEFORE U.S, particularly for consumer/prosumer stuff.
Hi
What qualifies a body as being Pro? You were saying only 1D series is Pro but the 1D MkIII is APS-H, not FF. Can a non-FF body be considered Pro? Why does 5DMkII not qualify as Pro body?
I am referring to actual sale at stores, and not for product training.
I have just called Cathay Photo, and the answer is not yet.

Thanks for the update.
Do they provide product training for upcoming products several weeks before actual sales date? Certainly they won't do that several MONTHS before sales, right?
I am hoping to at least have a backup camera for an upcoming trip. :bsmilie:
I have no idea.
Accroding to lightning, he claimed that he saw staff from Cathay Photo were playing with it last Friday. That's why I am asking him whether it is true. If it's true, then Canon Singapore may have the product on hand now to conduct internal training or for their dealers before the actual sales take place.
