S2/S3 not wide enough, which is why I want to get the wide converter. More $$ spent

One question, I realised that my f/stop changed automatically when I zoom in in M mode......like when I am in the widest angle, then I set to the brightest f/stop (2.7) then I zoom in, and the f/step change to the nex level......cannot go back also. Normal har?

By the way, how do you guys decide when to use ISO 100,200,400 etc? Like when I am shooting a pic, I can choose diff combination of ISO, f/stop and shutter speed to get almost the same thing......pardon me as this is my first full manual capable digital cam. For SLR, I set the ISO according to the film I buy, that's easy......

My thinking now is try to use low ISO when posible, cos les grainy but need longer exposure, so steady hand is important.....so i will open up the f/stop more.....this "method" correct?

The wide angle is F2.7 and the tele is F3.5. That is why when you zoom in, the F stop will change.

ISO will depend on situation. Unless you set to auto and the cam will decide for you.

Invest in a tripod. Good for tricky and low light situations.

Most people I know with the S2 get the Raynox. They just released a new wide adapter, Im waiting for people to buy it & post pictures. :)

Morphis also has the Raynox DCR-6600Pro in 58mm. I am thinking of the silver one for my S2. Cost is $210 nett.

I think the Wide Converter would be most useful. On several occasions, I had difficulties trying to include everyone in the group photo in an enclosed room. I have some questions:

1. Is it easy to put on/off the adapter and converter? Or do I leave it on the camera?
One way is to leave the converter on the adapter. The other is to hold the adapter and twist the lens off.

2. If I leave it on the camera, does it affect any other function? All functions including zoom still work? Can the lens cover fit?
The adapter can be left on the cam. It will act as a protection for the lens with a UV filter in place at the front. I leave the adapter on permanently.

3. How does the camera look like with the adapter and converter? Any pictures?

4. The adapter and converter are listed at $59 and $199. Will the 3rd party products be cheaper?

www.lensmate is made of aluminium. 52mm is USD$22.95, shipping for 0 - 1 lbs is USD $12.00. Added up to $34.95 or SGD$57.67, without the lenshood.

The Canon version is $50 with the lens hood.

Some 3rd party ones are more ex depending on the magnification of the lens. Eg, the Raynox DCR-6600PRO - 52mm is going for SGD$199.00 and the 58mm version is going for SGD$210.00. From Morphis at the consumers coner.

but i notice that most of the 3rd party lens hood are non plastic.....fearing that over a period of time, it will spoil the thread that's why in the end, i settled for canon original lens hood

For those who like me will leave it on permanently it is ok. So I am seriously thinking of getting the Lensmate 58mm version or the 52mm version. Still thinking leh. So if I do get the lensmate one, then need to sell off the Canon one liao.

have u bought your wide converter? :)

Im getting a slave flash first. Just got a UV filter for my macro lens, no more pollen on it now! :)

One thing I was thinking, if people are getting the Lensmate adapters, shall we all order them at one go? Can save on shipping and all.

isee, btw... is there a lens cover for the lens hood?

Check the lensmate site, they say that the 52mm version is more suited for the S2IS.

Hi Cerebus, Radeonic and Felix,
Sori if I forgot to mention anyone.
I think I better not keep you guys in suspense. I do have the damage for the http://raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcr7900zd/index.htm. It's S$330nett.
Yes, very ex but McGill my bro have oredi squeezed it as low as possible. Cant do much as it's Raynox new latest super wide angle.:(
If you guys find it anywhere else selling it cheaper please buzz me. I'll git Jim to do sometime abt it.
If you wanna try anything, I'll try to make it next weekend.
Cheers,
James
