I'm also learning mysself.Man macro aint easy especially hand held shots.......u gotta like freeze urself to almost zero non-shake when u fire the shutter......LOL

Just PM you........Gd Luck

If you really want one, i can do it for you. Japanese Screen Protector(Not fakes or wannabes). Priced at SGD$4(Uncut), 3 layer protection. I custom cut it for my 450D. Comes in a 4.3" size piece, so have to custom cut to fit the whole 450D plastic frame. Fits well, and covers the whole screen, unlike the 3" screen protector. Let me know if you want one.

 i'd be interested!

Update

Earlier post:

----------------------------
Any one here bought a handgrip strap for their 450D?

I'm thinking of getting one because I don't like to hang stuff (camera) around my neck. I tend to get a stiff neck after a while and headaches later. I also don't like the camera bouncing off my body when I hang it around my neck and walk about.

I'm thinking of installing a hand grip and a neck strap so that I have a choice as to how to carry my camera.

Anyone care to share their experiences?

Thanks
Bernard

Just bought a Matin Leather Camera Grip-6 strap with a slim type plate instead of the think plate below. Feels very comfortable on the hand. Bought it at OP for $30.

Thanks for all your earlier feedback.

If you use lenses that are long/heavy, the centre of gravity is no longer on the camera body what, so you will experience a lot more shake even on tripod, plus your mount might get damaged. Still, Canon's tripod collars are bloody expensive conjobs.

When will you be getting the 450D? :)

This thread is insanely fast! ha.

Prob will try my luck at sitex to see if i can get a better deal there or not. I just realised that i need a dry cabinet to store the dslr and lens huh. Any recommendations of cheap and good ones? Looking at the smallest one 30L (?). Any recommended places for me to go get them?

Thanks :D

hi guys long time no see

funny coz when i'm home it always give me the 'error page' when i try to come onto CS.. but in office it works just fine.. that's y past few days missed out so many things

over the weekend i went to the barrage to FINALLY try out my 17-55 proper... tried taking it at night but guess i need to have more training coz a lot of them came out quite blur :( think really need to join u guys for some SSS soon.. and i should have brought a tripod.. just a question.. when u all take night portraits.. do u all use MF or AF? coz whenever i use AF.. my shots come out very OOF..

and i've seen some really beautiful shots of the moon here lately and i tried taking 1 myself using the 55-250 and a tripod.. but seriously have no idea.. i tried all kinds of settings but i always get a very bright light just beneath the moon and i have no idea why.. any bros got any good settings to share? or is it because the lens isn't capable enough?

anyway here are 2 of my better shots from the barrage

Definately need a tripod, mirror lockup, shutter release to do night shots, Usually manual focus, unless you want it to refocus when u press the shutter release. Havent tried taking the moon yet. :)

I have tried to shoot the moon once using 55-250 with tripod, shutter release, liked what 11,9th said. Result not really that good. 250 x 1.6 is still very limited for the detail on the moon. Overall still can see its a moon under 100% crop.
Sorry that i can't upload it as i can't access the photo upload site from office. Btw my setting is F5.6 & 1/2500, might not be a good setiing. You may test and try from here.

Anyway you mentioned "bright light just beneath the moon". Is it the flare? you may try without filter to see any of such case.
