Canon G10

has anyone here switched to a wrist strap instead of using the default neck strap?
are there any less bulky looking ones available locally? Saw a few at CP but they look rather fat and bulky for just a wrist strap.
If not, I was thinking of ordering this http://www.prostrap.com/ . anyone else keen?

I just use a simple wrist strap from my IXUS.

I recently bought a G10 as a backup camera during trips and also for those days I don't feel like lugging a full DSLR set. I have used the G2 (was faithful for over 8+ years) and learned to trust the G-series. My opinion is that the G10 is of very high quality - well designed and well built. Of course, there will always be someone who likes 'this' and doesn't like 'that' on any camera, i.e. there's never ever going to be a 'perfect' camera that everyone agrees with.

Still, for what it is, I am wondering if G10 users would like to form a G10 Users Group to share, learn, enjoy outings where everyone is shooting strictly with a G10.

You never know what we can learn from each other. You never know what new ideas, experiences, tricks, accessories, DIY stuff, and new limits we discover with everyone trying different things.

Rather than comparing 'small milliseconds differences' between startup and shutter-lag, maybe it's more fun doing lot of shooting with the G10 and learning and sharing amongst G10 users.

The user guide is the user manual.

Three manuals inside. I believe 'camera user guide' is the so-called user manual you're looking for.

Good Day to All,

Does anyone experienced an issue which i had with my G10's viewfinder with the lens fully pulled out???

I could see a small portion(curvature/tip) of the fully-zoomed lens in my viewfinder.....the tip of the len occurred at the bottom horizontal plane of the viewfinder.

Is it considered a design flaw?? Or there are some mechanical problems to my lens system???

Many thanks in advance !

Cheers

dont be lazy, do a search 'G10 viewfinder' ...... it is a observation when the lens is 'fully pulled out' so nothing wrong with your camera

its worse when you use the lens adaptor + a screw-on lenshood

unfortunately you cant do anything about it except use lcd to compose

Just got my G10 yesterday, any recommendations for leather casings?

There's Phatstraps & Gordy's too. Came across another one recently which I thought was pretty good but didn't save the bookmark and I clearly forgotten the name! Gah.

mm gordys look good, do i have to order or is there anywhere in sg that sells them?

ps. it's pretty quiet here.

Will be going to Korea soon, anyone can recommend a good place to buy the G10? Does it come with an international warranty (e.g one that covers Singapore?)

Hi All,

In addition to Phatstraps and Gordy Straps already mentioned, there is also the OP/Tech 6701252 Gotcha Wrist Strap.

Something else I might suggest is the combination of a shooting vest, and a short neck strap.
The G10 is stored in one of the upper pockets and also tethered on a strap, should you lose your grip on the camera.
I've got a couple of vests, but none have a pocket large enough for the G10 for me to try this out.

Hi Fred,

Absolutely. Count me in. I'm a Simei resident.

And if anyone has cool G10 accessories, please bring them along so the rest can ogle, feel envious, and end up buying even more toys for their G10.

this thread has been pretty quiet le. lol i also want to accessorize my G10.

Count me in too! I'm complete new to G10 :embrass: and I'm eager to find out more about 'em!!! :D Would be great to have some enlightenment from the rest! ;)

I just bought Lowepro Apex 60AW... fix nicely if you are carrying your stock G10 around.

I am planning to buy few lens accessories, so most probably, 60AW is too small :(

Anyone can recommend a waist shoulder level tripod for G10?
Anyone bought adapter for filter lens, Canon or lensmate better har?

To answer the Korean question. The cheapest to buy is at the airport (near gate 102). I believe it is about US$ 330 (comes with a 2gb memory card + leather case). No International warranty though.

330usd is CHEAP even w/o int'l warranty.
