might i suggest creating a canon/nikon gallery etc. ?

:bsmilie: you're right, she was complaining about the wet diaper after that shoot. In general, I quite like the bokeh from this len on 500D.

i think u meant motion blur if you're referring to the girl's pic that was taken? it's bcos u took at 1/60, slow enough to make the blurry effect on the water..

Testing the Bokeh of 18-200mm (no PP done)

1/60 f/8.0 FL 80mm ISO200 Aperture Priority Mode

Like what Flyer said, we can't really make any conclusions about bokeh at f/8, but I do like the tonality and skin tones very much!

Yes you are correct about the eval metering, should I have used spot instead? I did have problems with the flash bouncing off the star. I felt that the 500d does not have the underexposed problem with my previous 400d.

Using spot might have reduced the highlight of the star. Evaluative takes into account the entire frame which includes a lot of the background which is dark. So it might have overexposed it a bit. But with reflective surfaces and a flash, you might still get the highlight on the star. With a stationary object like the Cap'n, you can mount the camera on a tripod and use a very slow shutter speed. In case you do not have a tripod yet, sit the camera on a stable surface (e.g. chair / table and use the timer countdown (the one you use to shoot yourself with a bunch of friends) when the shutter speed is slow to remove problems with handshake. :)

Looks like the 500D is not bad. I may get one for travelling since its light and can do relatively good 720p video.

Also took some daytime shots at Tekka area. These may or may not have technical value.. :)
Shots were tried on P mode. Didn't had time to play with other settings as I was with my little boy and my wife.

1/60s - f/5.6 - ISO 400
Some over exposure at the bottom.

i took this during my recent trip to KL. was trying out the new 500D. think the exposure is too long?

Shuttle Priority
8 Sec
F7.1
Using Sigma 18-200mm lens
I din have a tripod with me. so i have to rest the camera on the railing and use my hand to hold it. so probably kinda OOF too?

ya...OOF, over expose..
I think my prosumer was better off without tripod also..

learn how to take stable shots without tripod..especially for long exposure shots..

hmm~ what are the white spots near the twin tower? dust or other light sources?

Took this photo at National Geographic VivoCity yesterday. Taken @ 1/20 f/3.5 FL 18mm ISO400, which is wide open and "softest" setting for 18-200mm lens. Except for a bit of barrel distortion, is the overall sharpness acceptable for this softest setting?

Its amazing what DPP can do and what you can do to your RAW file :) It was pretty dull at first but managed to bring out the colors and I'm happy with it. No photoshop mods hehehe
