Hi Guy,

Just like to share this photo after reading this post, I took my 500d to my kitchen to have a few shot. Setting on 'P' mode with canon 50mm f1.8 fix lens on AF at various 'ISO'. Actually my kitchen is quite dark 8/100% of the light coming in from the window the right and this light is no direct light but light from the outside corridor reflected on a wall. First I have difficult to lock focus, so I aim my camera to the wall that is bright lock the focus and aim back to the kitchen for every shots make.

I am not so good on photographing, below photos are directly upload from my camera without editing and I found that the photo is much brighter than the actual lighting in my kitchen.

Can elaborate? Is really that bad or only in low light?
AF in video is using contrast detection. It is slow, unreliable and may hunt in low light and will add lens motor noise if video is recording sound.

Just some photos i took, applied some chrominance NR to the last photo

Newbie posting. Took this photo of my 2.5yr daughter last weekend. No PP done. Comments please.

post in C&C if you want comments.

nice video, the jerkiness is due to video editing?

how's the audio capture?

did you use a tripod for your video recording?

Thanks. I think the jerkiness is introduced by Vimeo. If you are able to download the WMV file (need to log in to Vimeo) it will be a lot smoother.

The audio quality is not very good, and if you adjust anything on the camera while shooting it is picked up very strongly.

Yes I used a tripod. It is pretty essential when shooting video with this type of cam, otherwise you will get both unsteady video and rolling shutter jello effects.

i like this shot! the other shots in this thread are oof.

Care to let me know how is my shot oof? Did you check the larger image linked to the original post? The "medium" image inserted into the post somehow makes the image appears oof. But the uploaded image (which is linked to my original post) is of higher resolution. I think most of the uploaded images have the same problem

Any expert care to explain how to insert high resolution image into the post? Thanks. :)

FYI, the photos are blur due to handshake. Try to tak e the photos again with at least 1/60 or same speed with tripod. You will know what I mean.

newbie reporting. bought the 500D few days ago. first DSLR. still playing around with the cam and LEARNING. took some pictures. just to share... pls don't flame me.

FYI the 2nd and 4th one are taken at 0"3" shutter speed. No photoshop done only NR. I don't think you need such a fast shutter speed as the IS system is really really good. Just practice on keeping your hands steady and the IS will take care of the rest. :P like going range sia!

2nd picture seems to be focussed on the sign rather than the exhibit. Is it deliberate?

Hey Mod , why was my Capt Am pic and post deleted?

because it has no technical value. i see no point in that posting. what does it show? noise? lens sharpness? CA?

are you comparing image quality with another lens or sensor? is there a 100% crop? is there exif info provided so other forumers can discuss about the technical aspects of the picture?

no.
