Yea. My mum promised me to see me thru my degree no matter how hard the economy gets. She's one great mum.

Ya. But are you buying your tammy from CP? They seems to have run out of stocks for Hoya UV. I wanted a Hoya one for my new baby but OOS so gotten a Tokina 1 instead.

good for u! mine hor, only diploma and said, if want degree, you goto figure yourself. oh well, that's why now i'm paying my own degree course doing part-time. xiong sia. (ok, we seem to OT quite a bit in this thread hor :bsmile: )

har.. still out huh. yea i'll prob get my tammy at CP, that means goto walk around to find e filters then. aiyah ley chey. see how it goes. most impt, dont tell me the tammy i want OOS!!!

Exercise your legs more. I'm getting used to my 50mm already. The bokeh on mine at f/2.2 is  and it's at its sharpest for my copy. ;)

The only zooming feature available made possible with prime lenses is using your legs to move about. :bsmilie:

YAH! but sometimes cannot be cuz of space constrain mah. (image, i back back back till the wall, then gave up, walk away) heh.

:bsmilie: Good to see that. I take no chances in handling precious equipments though.

ok ah...or hide under a big plasticbag n chg lens lor :bsmilie:

i'm still struggling w my 50mm heh. probably i'm spoilt with using zooms la. but i'm always impressed at my 50 f1.8 photos. bokeh and low light shoot so much better (but i still not gd with primes)

last time i also not use to prime....

but as time goes by, u slowly understand why ppl like them so much even though the range very limited....

No worry. Tammy sure have bcos I saw it just now. Hehe! Get the Tokina one loh. I think next time just buy Tokina one sua already. I got a Hoya Close-Up filter. It's a pain in the ass to clean it after all my macro shots. ;(

Sounds like my parents, hah.

How come everyone suddenly splurging on gear. lol like shiok like that.

i tink 3rd party 70-300 is also around the range of 360-380.
but no IS they say no point. but hor. even with a fast shutter also cannt?
70-300 with IS is a very very big gap in price lor.above 1k i think.

i scared i buy 55-250 liao will still gian 300mm haa..
but if i get 300mm no IS then all shots are blur also waste $$...

You can try to get Tamron 70-300mm, the price should be affordable.

The point is that without IS, shots taken at 300mm might be affected due to handshake. Fast shutter speed will help but there's a limit to how much help it can provide unless you're taking pictures at 1/xxx or 1/xxxx.

For Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM, you should be able to get it at sub $1K range in B&S. Try TCW if you want to get one. Might be able to get it at good price.

yup, its my first lens other then my kit, will take it out to use once a while. then must learn from my friend who's a 50mm king. haa, he walks around with JUST e 50mm. produces excellent photos! woot!

YAH! but sometimes cannot be cuz of space constrain mah. (image, i back back back till the wall, then gave up, walk away) heh.

then u try find high ground lor...

sometime when i go out, i just bring my cam wif 50mm nia....

light 450D body + super light 50mm....

:bsmilie: That's the point of using prime lenses.

:bsmilie: Moisture starts to build up within the plastic bag after you change a couple of times?

I tried this lens from one of my shooting buddy before. Extend out like nobody business. Haha! But it's not that fantastic at 300mm also. Hmm, might be his lens old liao.

agree agree w that. lightest as it can get!

50mm is an excellent street photography lens if you can master the art. I'm learning from my fren who shot with his 50mm from his hip.

good! i shall go dream of it tonight, filter prob can wait or just hoot the tokina~

:bsmilie: Tried stopping it down to f/8 and beyond? Should be able to get reasonable quality.

And for the extending part, yes. Unless you're using DO IS, otherwise the extension of 70-300mm IS with hood on is long.

Make some minor adjustment and sharpening, that should do the job. ;)

YAH! MY FRIEND ALSO! haa.. they're good la. my friend will place cam near to body, hip level, then half shutter, then press. and he gets gd photos! stylo la. i guess he's soooo used to shooting at that range that he doesn't even need to look thru' the VF. best.

No need extra thinking. No Hoya, just get Tokina and vice versa. ;)

And 50mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/1.4 really make Canon DSLR bodies like toy camera. :bsmilie:

exactly lor, especially entry level dslr like the 450D!
