Yeah but I heard the 24-105 always has the error code 1 a.k.a can't auto focus. 2 years ago I got the same problem from the 24-105L that comes with 5DMk2. Not sure if Canon fixed in the new batch of 24-105.

I never heard of this issue. Could you elaborate more and define what the issue is? Was it happening for both video and still photography or just one or the other?

Did you eventually get it fixed for your own situation?

I thought it's a known issue to the 24-105L. You can just do a google search for "error code 01 24-105" and it all points to this 24-105L lens from Canon. For example:

Thanks for highlighting this. Seems this bad ribbon cable thing affected a number of lenses... previously had it on my 10-22. Needed to pay ~$150 to get it fixed. Aiyah....

Don't get 35L, its ****. The new sigma 35mm 1.4 outperforms it completely (go on lens rental, they had like 100 copy of 35L, the best one doesn't equal the only copy of the new Sigma they have).... and the price is half.

The Canon one is ancient but it's a Canon and they printed the magic L onto it.

They will probably release a mark 2 in time to come, probably sooner rather than later. And being Canon, they will charge you an arm, leg, kidney & your first born for it.

If I would be interested in that lens I wouldn't care. If the lens is part of the kit it's probably a pretty fresh copy, it should be fixed in production by now.

I've had my 24-105 for a couple of years now and no issues. It must be a sporadic problem. Are there any specific date codes associated with this issue?
