Agree=D..and 7d fps...oh well all we can do now is wait n see..the 60d motto is something about new perspective right? So i hope they stick to it

its reasonable not to have 8fps since mk3 only has 6fps, d800 only 4fps. pls keep in mind this is a level down from mk3.

canon has a answer for you already. The mk3

as far as i know tt's becoz of smaller mirror (crop size) box is easier to construct:)

Oh well..i just hope technology improves so by then we would have better fps=(

Haha, I doubt it's because of the slightly bigger mirror and box. They engineer and manufacture SLR bodies for ages, the few millimeter more make no difference. It's just a marketing decision.

U make me sad=(...Haha oh well at the most i might just stick to my 1dmk4 since i like shooting fast stuff

The 11 pt AF with only center cross type is absolutely disappointing. i want a 7D AF. the rest of the spec is reasonable for a budget FF

The spec list indicates centre Af point is 2.8 sensitive cross type. That does not mean other AF pt are not cross types.

thanks! so others might be cross type too but not extra sensitive as compared to the center one when using 2.8 lenses

"11 AF Points, f/2.8 Cross-type in the center."

Could be if interpreted corrected and if the rumor is true. :)

I have some thoughts:

i) Let's not forget that all this discussion is speculation only. Canon has not officially announced their specs for the 6D. The feature set as we know it today, could change dramatically.
ii) The Canon 6D is a budget camera. All its bells and whistles will not match the feature set of other higher spec'd Canon cameras.
iii) It would be great to have a better sensor and great AF system (I would like that too), but I think that Canon's first priority with this product is to produce a full frame camera at a price point competitive in the budget arena. Hopefully they will find a mix that will match Nikon's D600, feature for feature.

Most recent "leaked" specs (as of Sept 15th, 10:30 am: GMT -5 -- 10:30 pm GMT +8):

  • A new 20mp sensor
  • Full Frame
  • 4.5fps
  • ISO Range 100-25600
  • DIGIC5+
  • APS-C Sized body
  • Weathersealed
  • SD Card
  • Built-in Wifi & GPS
  • 11 AF Points, f/2.8 Cross-type in the center.
  • 3″ LCD
  • Full HD (1920×1080)
  • Available December 2012
  • Price: $1999 USD Body Only (Speculated price)

The specs don't appear to have changed much from the last set of "rumoured" specs. The speculation now is "when" will we hear the official version from Canon?

I hope that Tuesday will be the day.

The "photo" looks pretty real to me...

It's "photoshopped".
5D mk3 body la.

With the introduction of the Canon 6D, I think that it would be interesting to see how the price of the 2nd hand 5D Mk ii will be affected. The 5D Mk ii is a great camera and capable of phenomenal photos but its current price point may be forced to flee southward with the 6D's introduction. If I were thinking about upgrading from a 5D2, I would be seriously thinking of selling it now before its current price is affected further.

Does an upgrade to the 6D make sense? They look pretty close.

I agree... both 5D2 and 6D specs are not that far apart.

My thinking was more in line with those seeking to upgrade from 5D2 to 5D3. If 5D2 owners wish to get current dollars for their equipment, they should sell sooner than later.

It will sell well if the price justify the spec. Right now at US$1999, the specs (especially the AF) are disappointing if this rumour is true. Top up a bit for D600 which is better in every department. Lower spec than D600 is perfectly OK if it is CHEAPER.

I agree. However for those who are heavily invested in Canon glass and wish to upgrade from a crop camera, a defection to Nikon Nation is unlikely.

As you say, if the specs of the 6D don't justify price, then the best bet for these intentional upgraders, is to buy a good used Canon 5D2 at a much cheaper price with specs that are reasonable close to the 6D.

Digicame-info just updated the specs:

Viewfinder coverage:97%, Magnification:0.71X
Size: 144.5x110.5x71.2mm
Af: A new strong low light detection model

5D2 has a 98% viewfinder coverage, D600 is 100%
The new released Pentax k-5 II claimed their 11 point AF detection range is from -3EV, so Canon has a similar one?
