The 60D is already appearing in the BnS section. There is one for sale now for S$1399.

To Anthony: I used one-touch WB brush in Lightroom and got the same results as Raydio. On the other hand, I could not get DPP to save the edited jpeg file from you. Maybe I need to reinstall my Canon software.

To Raydio: I got my brand new 60D from SLR Revolution at $1408. Not sure why anyone will want to pay $1399 for a used copy.

Doodah: Congratulations on the 60D! Please be sure to post some of your work so that we can appreciate what this machine is capable of.

I agree with your synopsis of the price. The poster will have to reduce his price. Again congrats on your 60D. There will be many "green with envy" this morning when they read your post... myself included ;)

Thanks. I'll see if I can find the time to do some bug macro photo with the 60D. My next big trip is in July next year (Hokkaido)... long time to go... :)

Doodah, thanks. I need to upgrade my PC and intends investing on CR5. You need to update your old DPP with a new version to take 60D files. If you can do some indoor shooting with normal room light, normally tungsten & florescent, I will appreciate. The 60D will serve as a good back-up in times when I need something lighter n smaller. It will be an excellent companion to my range of small and cute OM lenses.

Sounds like a nice trip! In the meantime, I look forward to seeing your macros. Which lens do you use? I have the Canon 60mm but I find that the focal length is a bit on the short side.

You could have saved yourself some money if you had either rented the camera at Camera Rental Center or played with it at the Vivocity showroom. Just a thought. :bsmilie:

For your sake I hope that you can sell quickly.... but why the sudden change of heart?

Don't get me wrong. 60D is a very good cam.
For those buying to upgrade from xxxD, go ahead. u won't regret.
As for existing xxd, i think 7D is better choice as we are used to machine gun:angry:

I have outgrown 50D/60D.
So, it is either a 7D (Machine gun) or a 5dm2 (FF) for me.:D

My workflow is very simple. I shoot in raw, AWB. Download to DPP and retune color temperature to suit the shooting condition. I never adjust color tone but tried and could never get what I want with an image from 60D. Those that I shot with 5D with the same lens, same setting, the images behave totally different and I needed very simple work on DPP only. I will post 2 photos of the 60D shot with the same 17-55f2.8, one at 5pm outdoor and one indoor at about 9pm with artificial lighting.

60D with 17-55f2.8 at 9pm indoor with artificial lighting. I tried adjusting the raw image in DPP by lowing the WP temperature and it turned into an ugly yellow. As it is it's too pinkish to me. By the way, the wall color is very whitish.

Anthony, i think u need to understand a basic tech background here. The 60D uses a different sensor & processor & algorithm, so naturally it will look different compared to 5D or 5DmkII. U'll need to spend some time to familiarise with the adjustment to get what u feel comfy. Even the same generation of cameras like the 5D2 & 1D4, also will look different compared to each other.

Not entirely good or bad, but need some time to find out the characteristics & adjustments.

Here's one i think ok. I like to retain some ambient light for the mood.

If ur shooting style is machine gun type, 5D2 will not suit u. U need the 1D4. Trust me on this one.

Nice and well taken photo. At its price point, the 60D is extremely good value. Unfortunate, after spending one day with it, I still have to look elsewhere or maybe wait for the 5D3 and hope that its rendering style is different.

Hey Guys,

I noticed that the photos i take at night during dinner for example always come out rather Reddish.

Is there anyway i can correct this within the camera setting instead of editing after transferring to my com?

another thing that i noticed is that when i open the photo with "digital photo professional" from canon, there isn't this reddish effect. However, when i use "preview" on my mac to look at the photo, it will appear reddish.

Anyone can help on this?

The quick answer to your question regarding the reddish hue when pictures are taken at night is yes, it can be corrected in camera. Here is a YouTube video that will demonstrate one method, but be aware there are several different options to accomplish the same thing.

Searching on YouTube or on the internet will provide you with many different methods.

i believe the reddish hue is caused by the lights & not the camera (any brand & model will have this issue). i noticed if those yellow/tungsten lights with colour temp of 2500K will have a reddish residue, those 3500K tungsten light doesn't.

Usually i manually tune the pics & not let the cam does the guess work. The pic above was manually tuned & i left some yellow light to preserve the ambient mood.

If u use the custom WB or the 'Click WB', the pic becomes too cold looking. Here an eg. U can compare it with the pic i posted above.

Custome WB i find, only useful if u want to recreate accurate or more precise colour tone w/o being bothered by it looking cold. Here's another eg.

Finally, one gentle reminder. Always shoot RAW if u intend to fine tune. If its jpg only, u can't do much about the WB & tweaking.

hope this solves the mystery of reddish hue.

Edited:
PS. The Mona Lisa is a replica. So when u go to Paris to view it in the Lourve museum, dun get too excited. HAHAHAHA!!!

Thanks for the tips Nightpiper. Your photos look great!

Could you go into a little more detail in how you "tuned" the pics.

Did you do it in post processing or in-camera?

I think earlier in the post i mentioned a few tips for Anthony. All shot in RAW cos if u do in jpg or TIFF, there's no leeway to adjust the WB & other parameters.

In Canon DPP, use either Colour Temp, Auto or Click WB. After that fine tune a little using the curves. Finally if the curves still doesn't give u the results, use PShop to fine tweak it a little. Thats about as much as u need to get good colour.

I dun recommend using 3rd party RAW apps cos they can't render colours correctly compared to manufacturer's original app. This principle applies to all brands. :D

using my kit lens~
fully zoom and aperture widely open (5.6 think)
cant get the detail because original picture not in this computer~
