Canon 60D: Homerun or Disappointment?

AI Servo is indeed a usefull AI tracking setting for moving subject but it don't cover the lack of AF tracking speed and accuracy of the body & lens infact by this method u might get a lot more out of focus picture compare to your one shot focus lock if u're not familiar with it

Oh yah...thats what I have experienced before and thats why I chose One-Shot for all. Maybe it is the cam....so am I right to conclude that the focusing are better for xxD onwards? I did try the xxD and xD, I feel that they are faster and even the 5D MKII which some people claimed that it is slow but I still find it faster than my 400D....maybe my expectation too low....hahaha

If 60D's focusing is a big jump from my 400D....I think will consider getting it....and probably pair it with a better lens. I am still having doubts with kit lens

based on my experience comparing the focusing speed on my 50D and 550D of most of my frend(5 of my frend got this model can u belive that, i mean what's with the MP count and canon people ) i found 50D focus a bit quicker(maybe by 1/2-1 sec depend on shoot object and situation) than 550D, 60D should hv the same focusing speed as 50D or maybe faster but i doubt that, given the same AF point mechanism is the same(at least on the spec), so yes if u want to get xxD series or xD series(even faster focusing) i think it's a wothy upgrade especially coming from a 400D(way out of date cam pal, seriously u need upgrade )

HAHA....thats why I am looking for a camera that suit my work scope. Actually the 400D is a camera on loan from my sister, so meaning I do not have any DSLR from the very beginning....

For me I am sold by the tilting LCD screen... One might miss valuable shots w/o it at least that's how I feel... And I think canon is kinda smart to have a plastic/light body with this feature as most of the time one tends to hold the cam with one hand while using it... Unless u r a damn strong else quite hard to hold I feel...

That's a good point. All the speculation about the price of a used 50D "not" going down (me included), is probably incorrect. Too bad.... because I was thinking of selling my 50D but now I'm not sure if I want to sell so cheap.

There is a feature of the 60D that I just read about and didn't know until now. There is a locking mechanism in the mode dial. You have to press the centre button before changing the settings on the mode dial. A small feature, but a nice one. I wish that other Canon cameras had this.

The locking mechanism is a big irritation. My old minolta dynax 7D has the lock on its dial as well, and its damn irritating, it slows u down from changing the dial, when compared to no lock.

I don see a lock as neccessary, most dslrs don hv locks on their dials and i don see them having trouble, unless canon makes their dials so loose that it needs a lock to prevent it from moving lol.

Don't worry. That won't be the Singapore price. The Brits are the unlucky folks who need to fork out a lot more money for the same piece of equipment that everyone else uses. :bsmilie:

I think that you'll be buying a 60D long before your trip in November especially if you're leaving during the latter part of November. Indications are that the 60D will become available in October (at least in Britain). Britain was one of the last nations to get the 7D when it was introduced.... of course that doesn't mean that it will be the same for the 60D.

Wow..they have the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS as kit for your selection. I think this should be best kit len they have implemented so far.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I went to Comex to have a look at the Canon booth. I halfheartedly thought maybe, just maybe, Canon would provide a 60D as a demo unit.... but as luck would have it, there was none. The fellow I was speaking to at the booth said that they should be available in October or latest November.

Surprisingly, the new PowerShot S95 was there for sale!
