Canon 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS

Am thinking of getting this lense, but am curious how it performs in light situations. Can someone pls post some
pics?

Some indoor shot. I am still trying to improve my shooting with this lens.

No problem.

CPL = Circular Polarizer Lens filter. Mainly use for helping to stop down overexposed skies and cut off water reflections. Very useful on a bright day.

GND = Graduated Neutral Density filter. A versatile ND filter with gradient coating which you can used to do a gradual darkening on parts of the shot on the coated area. Mainly use to stop down skies and at the same time retain the exposure on the non coated part.

Can anyone tell me where to get GND filter?
And how much it is ?

A beautiful sunset yesterday. Taken at 200mm handheld 1/200s.

Comments & critiques welcomed as still learning too

Nice sunset photo.

Can see quite severe chromatic aberration around the sun. Do you crop the image to enlarge it?

Yup the CA was pretty bad, should have corrected it during PP. This was cropped about 50%. 200mm was not quite long enough. But w 15MP it was still manageable

Oh I didn't know we can share pictures in this thread. Here are my humble shots

The 28-300mm L lens would be much better alternative, On looks, feel and IQ.

on crop, you will lose 10mm on the wide end and the cost isnt as nice as the 18-200, something to think about

Just for comparison. Same sunset I think, but shot with a prime, uncropped.

Haha on top of that budget is of another issue, 28-300mm is expensive rite? :bsmilie:

Just to add (add)... ;)

On top of the cost, one would also have to consider the weight & size of the 28-300L as compared to 18-200IS when you are using it for traveling.

That the main reason why I didn't purchase the L when I got a FF.

Hi Anson
Please post one outdoor Portrait taken with Canon 18-200 IS as I want to see the BOKEH produced by this lens.

Thanks

Hi Anson
Thanks for your reply regarding portrait taken by 18-200 lens, I have seen that portrait taken with a 18-200 lens and the picture is fine with excellent bokeh

Thanks for sharing .

alok:)

Thanks for the compliments for the shot. :)

The 18-200IS lens is a good all-in-one lens, have seen photographers with excellent shots with this lens. Sad to say, I have only been able to utilize a small portion of it's fullest potential.
