I find this irritating too. A simple lock like those found in 3rd party lenses is all that's needed.

After so many years Canon has finally released the centre pinch lens covers... now its time that they implement a locking mechanism for their zoom lenses.

Maybe Canon will update this lens with STM lens as rumour is that current EF-S 55-250mm will soon have an update with STM and improve optics.

Actually how does this lens compare with the 18-135 STM? Anyone tried both before?

There is already zoom lock on the Canon 18-200IS
