Watch this youtube video. comparision of Sony DSLR vs Panny G3. Important thing here is to see how the G3( and all other lumix G cams) AF during video. Panny has it done right. very nice and slow without sudden shifts. If you want to have immediate refocus during video, just press the shutter button. But most videographers would use MF instead as AF cannot be fully trusted during video. Just that Panny gets it right most of the time. IMHO, better than Oly even.

Hmm. Good enuff for framing. Not good for detail. Very low res, washed our colours. Vf2 better but no locking mechanism. I bought vf3 for the locking.

Agree ... The only issue I have with vf2 is the lack of a locking mechanism
There were times I really dropped it but was lucky enough to find it back.
Image quality wise , VF2 beats VF3 totally, no fight.

I have a question:

After I connect the epl5 to my computer and want to disconnect it, I can't turn it off using the on/off button. Can I just disconnect the camera but just unplugging it from the USB cable?

My E-PL5 isnt with me at the moment.. but even in quiet surroundings, i never heard any specific sounds when i turned it off. I just pressed the power button and it shut down... but maybe my hearing isnt as good : )
will test specifically for this when i get to my camera tomorrow..

OK.. i put my ear next to the E-PL5 when i press the on/off buttion. Basically theres a sound like the lens aperture blades closing or a soft sound when the cam powers down. Defintely not like a pc powering down?

Low light performance ( I assume you meant Hi ISO?) had improved significantly from EPL3 about 2 stops. Low light performance depends also on individual tolerance. IQ is similar to EM5. So you can google for images on high ISO with either EM5/EPL5 to decide what's tolerable for you.

here's one at ISO 8000, noise filter is set low. and a set on flickr with EPL5




If you low light performance refers to AF, it's also improved as well.

As for lens, it's hard to suggest unless we know more of what you shoot. And there's primes, fast zooms, normal zooms, telephoto zooms, ultra wide angle. There's a image thread for Olympus cameras you should take a look there as well.

Ya, low light performance means high ISO. It is incredibly clean at ISO8000.
The reason why I m getting the EPL 5 is prefer light weight. So, I will get one of the pencake lenses to couple with it while travelling. I would like to take landscape and environmental portrait.
