Budget ROM Photographer

So...., what needs to be done is to change that reputation and educate the birds that this is NOT a good place to poop.

since everyone agrees that the price is too low, it is now a fact.
and that fact is an insult to the photographers.

No harm intended to the TS, just letting off steam

Speak for yourself, it's not an insult to me. Think of others, times are hard for some bros and they could gladly use the money.

What I see is a person looking for someone to fit a budget. This is my last post on this topic so have fun and fire away. If you feel too many birds poop on you then get a reality check and learn to separate personal things from business things...do you think threadstarter came here specifically looking to poop on you? Go easy bro, can you blame a woman for trying to get a bargain

Hi

I'm new here.

Am looking for a ROM photographer in Jan 2007 with a tight budget of around $200 for 4-6 hours.
Please kindly provide portfolio.
PM me with you are interested.
Thanks. ;)

perhaps you might want to clarify whether the above measly sum includes the cost of prints, album and CD.

look forward to your early reply per return.

Yup I'd have to agree, have some class. If you guys are professionals, act like one and discuss prices or options with the threadstarter or don't reply at all. When someone posts something like this they are asking for help, not sarcasm.

Threadstarter, I agree your asking price is a bit low but I'm sure you can get desired results from amateurs or professionals still looking to fill their portfolios or build a reputation.

Everyone starts somewhere and there was a day when a hobbyist or person with interest turned amateur, then turned pro, did not know their aperture from their ass.

Is it so hard to be nice?

pple who claims to have very tight budget doesnt mean they can name their own price to look for event photographers... of course customers has rights bargain to cut price, but not not demanding to certain price.. hope least a little respect to the market value...

everyone have their own TIGHT budget, but such cases seems most commonly happen to us whom are in this trade, ... being exploited?... if we dont provides our part of 'education', then who will do it... gradually we dont want to see here as a place pple came in yeah;' $300.. any taker?'.. it soon becomes a place where cheap pool of camera man gathers?.... hopefully consumers can be more realistic in seeking professional services (in here, portfolio was asked).. given such rates for a 6 hours services is as good as; .... i've a TIGHT budget of $1000 for a bridal package consist minimum of 3 set gowns and 30 poses.... or i've a TIGHT budget of $150k for a 5 room flat, must be well-renovated and near basic amenties...

for the TS, not being sarcastic, i was just trying to make a point.. anyway, based on your budget, i think there's should have pple already contacted you.. :what: good luck!

ops, realise it's OT.. :P pls delete if necessary...

I think the pros who commented are not being sarcastic. It's purely a fact of life that there people out there who think that there are photographers here who are looking for opportunity to get a chance to expand their portfolio and therefore willing to take on low-paid assignments.

If this goes on without check, this forum is going to become a cheapskate sourcing market for low-cost photographers. Comments by pros here may sound harsh but I think we should continue with our stand that photography is not just snapping pictures but paid assignments are done with passion and dedication and therefore to be duly rewarded.

For those who have been in this forum here long enough, you have seen the works of some of the pros and they are definitely beyond just static freezing of moments but works that are considered tastefully artistic.

I do hope that every passionate and aspiring photographers can work together to make this industry different - one that is well respected and valued.

Just my personal opinions.

Daniel

Maybe a solution is for a group of photographers here to provide an avenue for budding photographers to work for them as say a backup photographer??? In this way, there may be less chance of people taking up these projects. But for $200 i think the person must be out of his mind to accept the project unless he is in deperate need of money.

$200 for 4 hours MAX la i doubt will be so long la but no prints? just the CD shoot and return. sounds ok? hehe.

just my idea what i would give for $200.

There's 20 over forum mates who are out of their minds.. Or desperate for money........

Well.. Thanks for all the offers on PMs and replies to this thread and the other (positive or negative). This is only for willing parties who are interested.

At least I can see some REAL human in this forum being understanding on individual's affordability and respecting other's needs.

why you make sure a statement? for your kind of offer, can't let a professional make a decent living by shoot 24/7.
for not taking your offer, all professionals photographer are inhuman?

I can imagine someone walking into Glen Eagles or Mount E and expecting polyclinic fees, and then telling off the doctors and nurses that they are all inhuman and beasts. :bsmilie:

OR maybe dining at decent chinese restaurant while expecting to pay food court prices; to tell the restaurant managers that they are blood suckers and heartless creatures. ;p

There would be no fear of price competition of this is the case.

I am a newbie in photography.. here's my comment.. perhaps the pro could suggest a list of potential risks to those who are willing to take the risk of engaging someone seeking a Buget photographer.

In the 1st place why do they not seek friends or relatives for help? What is the potential risk of seeking friends to help?
