I've read a few complaint about this shop already.......

Any government agency here in Singapore that this things can be address? am sure a lot already become a victims specially the tourist. Everytime i pass this shop, they almost kneel down to some tourist costumers! If i could only tell those costumers!

I think CASE is the one agency you wanna go to, but there are times where they can't do much. Heard a lot of bad comments about the shop mentioned, most refer them as "black shops". Been avoiding them anyways, dun really have anything there that I can't get cheaper somewhere else.

today i think i saw some of the SLS management party went around surveying the prices of these stores.

if you bring this issue up NOW. i think song brothers will lose their SLS Star Retailer award or something. :bsmilie:

Btw hor... Song Bros chain extends beyond store carrying the "Song Brothers" signboard... I was also overcharged in SB before... so when I was searching for a new cam, I swear that I won't go near another yellow sign board shop... guess what... as I was paying for my new toy in another tiny shop... they took out the yellow plastic bag with "Song Brothers" on it! The chap told me they have quite a few shops under different shop names! Darn.... :(

For me at Sim Lim, I only shop at shops where I have personal friends who works there. Now I only shop at Chamoxa. For Camera, mostly at MS, CP or canon direct.

ya...must becareful when buy things in sim lim sq..
I have been observing Song brothers everytime i went there since is on the first time. Cannot miss..
I realise most of the time are being occupied by tourists.Maybe to them, they have it cheap to buy from them compare to their countries. Thats explain why they are still around till today when their things are ex. They already expect local people wont buy from them. Thats dont apply to Song Brothers, there are shops in sim lim doing that also.
So must have ur research before buying something to avoid spending extra money..

Like lightning say, want to buy optical products should go to shops like CP or MS...;)

What if CS people one day stand outside their shop to tell people about their scamp!:bsmilie: Wonder what will happen. Get ready all the evidence we have so they cannot sue us. We just telling the truth to the public.

Looks like they will continue to survive doing what they are doing now. But from what i understand, the sales person will pocket the difference from the "cost" of the product that he sold. Meaning, if the company price the cost of a particular product to the sales person at $10 and he manages to sell it to some sucker for $100, he gets to pocket the difference of $90. But if he sells it at $10, he gets to pocket nothing and he will be working for free. So, as you can see where the cause and effect of the "over pricing" of products sold by such establishment. I am not too sure about this one, but i think most or all of the products sold are not tagged with a price label from establishment who does business in this manner. This is so, they can "play around" with the pricing "accordingly" with the customer.

But then again, with so much talk about getting back at them, did any victims actually took action against them? (example: complain to CASE etc) Or is it just N.A.T.O?? :)

Omg, this is atrocious business ethics. We should warn others and never patronise such shops. How can they survive for so long with so many cases of complaints against them?

I would always buy my stuff at reputable and reliable shops. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. I dun believe electronics price can vary so much in Singapore, reliablility and after service is more impt, even if it cost very slightly more.

i don't mind paying 50 to 100 more buck for the item or lens.

but they are selling the price that are about 4 to 5 time than orginal price than other shop.
it is very unreasonable and unbeliever.

i do check around for video camera price but this is the first time buying video camera so i got no knowledge about lens, and i went there quite late at night about 8pm.

Thinking that it was a big shop (1st and 2nd floor) and should't be a problem.
that the reason y i got cheated by the sale man.

It'll be good! but the next place you'll be is the hospital.. lol..

The next best thing is to have a price list sticky..... just like some guy did for Hong Kong....;)

I went to Video pro to ask for an xlr cable. About less than 3 metres long. I was quoted a ridiculous price of $65! I then said my budget is $30. Surprisingly, after a phonecall to "someone", he said "Ok.... give you $35!. FYI, I still did not buy...:nono:

its better to go to authorised dealers for products. I bought my ALPHA100 at sony gallery which is their own store. So if they overcharged i can directly complaint to sony and actions will be dealed accordingly. By going to resellers they are likely to conned pple as sony do not have full control of the prices there.

I have banned SONG BROS back in 2003 when they looked at me like I don't have money to buy anything just because I was wearing bermuda, round neck T and flip flops.

Not only this shop in that premises but some others also. Just beware man. Sometime it is not the money but the services & attitude toward customer. ;p;p;p;p
