black shop in sim lim square (SONG BROTHERS)

THIS HAPPEN 3 YEAR AGO JULY 2004. THE SALE MAN (Stefan gwee) IS STILL IN THIS SHOP.
SO EVERY ONE BE CAREFULL.



Hi , be careful of this black shop in singapore. "I HAVE BEEN CHEATED" $390 which cost only $89 for the vitacon lens.

i have bought vitacon 0.45 x wide angle with sony dcr-pc330e video cam and VF-R37K Filter kit in singapore at (song brother) 1 rochor canal road sim lim square #01-59/60. The sale man (name call Stefan gwee) char me for the total price of the three item at SGD$2614 including 5% GST.(TOTAL AMOUNT IS $2490) on 4 jul 2004.

The sony dcr-pc330e video cam in sim lim square shop cost about Sgd$2050 (GST not include ) as i tour around to ask for it price. The sony dcr-pc330e video camcorder itself which (song brother shop) charg me about Sgd$2050 (GST not include). Then VF-R37K Filter kit about SGD$50 GST not include. Which mean the vitacon 0.45 x wide angle cost me about $390 GST not include.

I then found out that the Vitacon 0.45 x wide angle in another shop at sim lim square (Edison electronics 01-43/45) cost only $SGD89 for the same models of the lens.

i have been cheated. i still have the receipt on my hand to prove that these three item cost me SGD$2490 GST NOT include.

As i look carefully for the description on the receipt it is written as (GROBARTING 0.45X WIDE ANGLE VIDEO LENS).

SO EVERY ONE PLEASE ALERT OF THIS BLACK SHOP IN SINAPORE

My 2 cents worth to you (all of you) is this: (through watching tv: Get Real)

1) Shop owners lure you by selling cheap main products (e,g. videocam)
2) They get your money through side items e.g. wide angle, extra batt, video light.

My advice: Once you buy your main item.... scout elsewhere for your side items.... You will see that they will get red in the face!!!

If you want to "winfirst", and choose to go Sim Lim to buy your stuff, best is to decide what you want to buy, know the prices and what are included in the package. Otherwise hard to avoid such thing happens again.

Prices wise, its individual responsibility to do research. They set a price, you have the right to choose whether to buy. Its not considered cheating. Unethical maybe.

Having said that, the service sucks big time. Haughty, high handed and rude.
I will never buy from them. I don't even mind paying more to patronize decent retailers.

but sometimes if the 2nd shop u went to and the sales person know u already bought the item from somewhere else, and was just checking for price, they purposely quote u a much lower price to make u "dwee".:dunno:

Few years back I got tricked the same way by another shop right infront of the escalator at 2nd floor....I was looking for a handycam and they quoted rock bottom price to lure me inside...once there...they will try to push the accesories etc like memory, extra battery, wide agle, pouch etc...at the end I paid almost the same price compared to other shop :dunno: can't take them to small claim because their invoice was very vague...just a round figure with everything in :sweat:

LL....I treat it as learning fee and next time round I will be more careful when dealing with this type of merchant :sweat:

Had a bad experience in SL too; cheated by a shop in the 2nd flr couple of years ago. For piece of mind, I never buy any electronic gadgets there anymore...shop at Courts/HN/BD with ease and comfort!! Maybe cheaper too at the end of the day

Sometimes, it's very tiring to go around compare prices.
So, in SLS, I only go Alan Photo or Orient Express.
But lately, I learnt from some threads that Alan Photo also seems to "gutok" ignorant shoppers....sad.

All these information posted about "black shops" is useful. At least I will be careful when i visit them.

i also got cheated or say overpriced by this song bro last year when i bought my fz30.. only went there because other shops don't have the black body. they sold me the a plastic UV filter for 70$ which should be 10$ and 3rd party battery for 80$ which should 30$. aiyah.. charged to experience!

my fault! did a very thorough research on the cam but forgot that they will whack me on the accessories.. :dunno: so be warned!:nono:

Any government agency here in Singapore that this things can be address? am sure a lot already become a victims specially the tourist. Everytime i pass this shop, they almost kneel down to some tourist costumers! If i could only tell those costumers!

i got experience oso wif this Song Brother. 2005 they use to have 1 branch at Plaza Singapura. The salesman jack up the price of the 10D batt grip which cost about $250 to $280 retail i know the price is around there. He jack up to $350, i was shock. Then i pretend to call canon customer service infront of him mention shops name & price blah blah... Then the salesman quick said to me "sorry ah bro wrong price its $265".....hahahaa

the song brother's chain around singapore seems to be rather dishonest overall.

From this thread, heard horror stories about the SLS and PS branch. hmmm... my bad experience, also posted sometime ago was from the funan branch, where they tried to pass off a display set as new in box when i brought my gf to buy a sony camera.

i strongly recommend you bring this up to the relevant authorities, they can get fined for overcharging IIRC.

in clubsnap. i believe there isnt a song brother spy in here. not that i know of, but i know pple from CP and AP do spy in here sometimes.

so.... if u want to make it big. do it. i support you. but not in cs la. waste of effort actually.
