Yupz this is the best zoom lens to me for Canon cropped bodies IMHO. Brought this for my Europe trip and never regretted it a bit! However between zooms and primes, I choose primes! :)

hmm.. i would top up more to get 16-35, since 17-55 is ef-s and it's costs is already this high :)

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

the lens IS/AV is good for low light

Why not if you are ok with the range (24-70) on crop

yes, i still own the 17-55.

Now I've got the Sigma 30mm/1.4. Will try it out for a few days as my only lens. Seems okay so far (So far, I haven't needed a wide angle yet for things such as group shots).

The best walkabout lens I'm vote the EF-S 15-85 USM. This is most useful for shoot at town or small place or sea side.

I mean getting EF L lenses for crop sensor

Same question, why?

I use a 70-200mm f4L on my crop sensor camera most of the time and I see lots of people with crop sensor camera using 'L' lens (such as 16-35mmL, 17-40mmL and the such).

Means i should start saving up to upgrade to L lens
