So, is your shots on human or landscape? Show me, I want to see.

17-35 G is build to minimize distortion. If not, why the price is 4X the price of the 17-35D? Even cents count.

Btw, where is your testing on the DT lens on D7? Can work or either one of it spoilt? ;p

I'm not sure if the 17-35G was built specifically to control the distortion although it does exhibit very controlled distortion. The price is many times that of the other version not because of the distortion control (if that is what u call it) but the build quality is superb as is the quality of the optics - the clarity, trueness of colour, speed of focussing, lack of aberrations, etc. I had a short opportunity to play with it once and the shots were excellent...

I have no idea why the DT lens should be damaged or damage the 7D? The lens mount is identical to other FF lenses...

DT is ok for 7D but not D7. ;p

UY79 want to try DT on D7. By all mean, spoilt liao, he can afford to send in for repair mah. ;p

I saw on the D5D catalog, it's said that DT is not for D7. Some ppl just don't listen, let them try lor, not my $ anyway. :bsmilie:

That's interesting... I have never come across something that says that the D7 will get spoilt using the DT lenses when I read the 5D catalogue... is that reflected specifically in the online catalogue... also what is meant by not for D7? Did they mean the vignetting hence usually u dun use them or did they mean that it will damage the D7? The difference is quite significant and usually the catalogues refer to the former meaning - as in severe vignetting will occur.

I got the few pages catalog of D5D when I went to the KMSC. Last page got mention abt it. The design of DT is not like normal lens. Therefore, either it wouldn't work and MIGHT destory the parts in either side (body or lens). Try at your own risk! :nono:

I think MD also wouldn't work on D7, right? So, can try but if any things happened, blame yourself lor. ;p

Landscapes and a few with human subjects. I don't have my film scanner with me at the moment. I'll get them scanned and post it up later in the week when I get the scanner back.

Wide angle perspective distortion is inherent to these lenses and are not easy to control. I doubt you are paying much of the high price for lenses to have better distortion control. It's more likely that most of your money, when you buy it, goes into the build, the glass, the button and that gold ring.

Anyway, KM pulled the 17-35 G and a few other Gs, zooms and primes out of their product lineup. What they intend to do, I've no idea. They might get upgrades, like the 35mm 1.4 D.

No one has offered one for me to try yet. But, it seems like someone tried it on DPREVIEW. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1035&message=15839164

Ah, TME was faster in replying. :bsmilie:

I'm with TME on the issue of the catalog. :)

I think the catalog states that DT lense are not suitable for D7 because of vignetting. UNLESS it specifically states the consquences of using it on a film body would result in damage to both.

The only line I can find relating to this is "*DYNAX AF DT series lenses are not compatible with conventional 35mm SLR cameras."

hmm.. I don't seem to see 17-35mm f2.8-4 being listed as DT lens. Is there a confusion somewhere ?

17-35 f/2.8-4 is not a DT lens mah.

My current setup:

16/2.8FE, 16-45/4, 24-90/3.5-4.5, 50/1.4, 77/1.8, 100/2.8 macro, 135/3.5, 200/2.8, 300/4.5, 1.4x and 2x TC.

Would love to add in a 12-24 or 14/2.8, but no money left already

...

Oops, I use Pentax, can input here too?
