UV is to filter off the UV that causes film to be hazy in the older days, the other job of the UV filter also doubles up as a protection for the front element and glass against drop.SEXiao said:Okay you have answer my question on 12-24DX to use UV filter or Polarizer.... how about 50mm, 105mm Micro and those long zoom.... use UV or Polarizer???
espn said:UV is to filter off the UV that causes film to be hazy in the older days, the other job of the UV filter also doubles up as a protection for the front element and glass against drop.
Polarizer's usage is what I'd call 'specialised' in cutting away excess lighting that causes reflection and enhances contrast, the use is very dependant on the photographer and what he attempts to achieve.
So in short, just BBB UV for all your glasses, then also BBB CPLs in case you need them
No need la... buy 77mm CPL, the rest of the glass 1 UV each.SEXiao said:Xiao liao, got to buy 2 for each.... and the 12-24 come with 77mm filter size.... :sweatsm:
espn said:No need la... buy 77mm CPL, the rest of the glass 1 UV each.
Hand held the 77mm CPL infront of the 50 and 105 Micro can liao, both are 52mm filter sizes, your hands holding the 77 CPL won't be captured by the camera. Save $ just that troublesome to turn your hands round and round till you like the polarized effect
