In US:
5dmk3 usd3499
D800 usd2999

In sg
5dmk3 sgd4699
D800 sgs4488

Nikon sg failed big time.

Agreed. The 5d3 is also popular but canon sg priced it in line with us prices. Nikon sg seems to add abigger margin...

Now, 5D Mark III look more viable. Canon as a company look lot more well organized, adequate stock and timely delivery for most people and a reason launch price of S$4,200 for US$3500 SRP. Looking at all the news on the net and here, got a feeling that Nikon is struggling to meet delivery.

D800 SRP is out! It is S$4,488!

Shops in Funan selling at RRP due to limited stock. I know 2/3 shop do this.

I think the SRP S$4,488 is not competitive. Like wat i mentioned in my previous message, based on the price diff of 5d3 vs d800 in US (USD$500), nikon shouldnt price it above 4.1k for SRP.

Now we know who's sucking us money.. sigh... Sorry Nikon, I'll put the upgrade plan on hold until you make the price right.

Tkfoto only has 2 sets and both are reserved; they are not sure when the next stocks are coming in.
SLR R has no sets and not sure when they are getting stocks.

Given the shortage, I'm pretty sure shops will be charging at higher than RRP

lol. at this rate, i'll probably be buying from malaysia next week.

Wow. Crazy price! Given D700 3 years ago RRP was 3888$, shops selling now at 3000$. that would be around 23% drop.

So 3 years later, d800 would still cost 4488 - 4488x 23% = 3456$!

Too much of a camera for average hobbyist. Personally I think d700 2nd hand sounds more logical

WOW SGD4488 RRP.. really a rip off. This is a global society 21st Century. They think we in SG print $$? :P

Actually D700 at that time was sold for around $3500 street price. Which IMHO still ok, but RRP was $3888. If given the same calculation, D800 street price should be around $4100.. which to me too much. If at street $3500.. can still consider.
