canon has released thier price for the 5DMK3
The new camera body will retail at S$4,699 locally while the kit with the customary EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM lens will go for S$5,999.

Price with Kit is almost the price of a D3s...

Seriously, why is the region Nikon head office being so secretive?? I heard 5Dmk3 is going to release this Saturday...

3 words: wish long long

someone had done the maths earlier already.
2,999 USD at today's exchange rate = 3,797 SGD
Add 7% GST on top of the price and you get 4,063 SGD.

My personal bet on D800's Singapore RRP is $4,099 SGD.

I don't think it would go beyond 4K. Prices in India are less than 4K and singapore should be cheap by at least 10%. So an estimate of 3.6K-3.8L looks more realistic.

$1000 less than the 5D3? Unlikely.

US price for canon 5d3 is 500-600 usd more expensive than d800 right?

I think us price have tax included already... Right? So converted in sgd it should be at least same... Correct?

2999 USD retail price doesn't include VAT as usual in the US.

Well, it's 2,999 and 3,499 USD.

An APS-C sensor isn't gonna outdo a fullframe sensor of the same generation and of similar efficiency at any ISO.

It is a very different kind of APS-C sensor... Never say never..

It's not that different the way Foveon is different to the normal bayer sensors. It has a differing color filter matrix, but that only (Supposedly) aids in resolution. For ISO gains, one needs a super efficient sensor and from all records, Sony/ Nikon are doing a better job than most at it.

Remember, at the same ISO/SS/Aperture, a FF sensor collects more light than an APS-C one, given the larger surface area. At the same reproduction size, the image from the FF sensor (If it is from the same generation and has at least equal efficiency) would have less noise.

Not that any of this matters to me anyway. I've rarely ventured above ISO 3200 and prefer low ISO, tripod work these days. The D800E seems to be perfect for that.

Nobody knows and not even Fujifilm claims that. They just say it has a different RGB filter and no AA filter. The sensor behind it might just be an ordinary Sony sensor.

It will never fall beyond $4k. Look at the price of d700 initial pricing and u will know it will cross $4k. Look at how canon price it 5dmk3 and u will know too.

I am confused.

D700 initial pricing is below 4k or above 4 k ??

The 5D3 announced later but will be in SG shops this afternoon. Slow man, Nikon.

Does it really matter? If you've invested in the Nikon system and have decided on the D800/E, a few more days are not gonna make a difference.
They built two of their factories from scratch and have announced two home runs, all within a year. I don't think Nikon could do anything more impressive, given the circumstances.

Of cos I won't mind if it's a few more days... But it looks like it's going to be a few more weeks :(

It's only 6 more days to 22nd March.

Please be patience.

Also take this chance to save up some money.
I have already been eating Maggie mee for the last 3 months for my D800.

D700 price is below $3k now. But how much it cost when it first launch and you will know how much this d800 beast will cost. Below $4k? I doubt so.

Who said it's coming to Singapore the same day as the US? Didn't the Nikon manager say it got delayed for this region?
