But the new firmware for D3 is only small minor feature addition. Adding movie mode will become big feature improvement. I think the lack of mic could be the main reason.

Hmm.. D2X has a mic. ;p

Anyway, if a feature could be supported by a simple firmware upgrade, they probably would do it because people will trust that whatever possible improvements would be implemented with a firmware upgrade. Most likely the hardware is different and the feature is not implementable with a simple firmware upgrade.

different camera for different purposes. d300 is too overwhelming for my needs, while d60 is too basic. i'm just glad i waited. could have bought a d60 and then upgrade, but don't like to buy and sell, too troublesome. :)

Yes, it's good to wait if you don't need it urgently.

the thing is, with the D90 having video, what odds that suddenly a D300X appears, a D300 with video.

I would expect same in D3x. :lovegrin:

I'm being very inquisite about the fisheye in-camera touch-up on the d90 :think: guess i'll hv to reconsider the 10.5 FE now.....hehe

In-camera defish?

Just sell off D300 and get a D90. Still have some change for the grip. Best of both world.

i was checking out http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=nikon_d90%2Cnikon_d300&show=all and found significant diffentiations that come in the following areas, along with my personal scoring system (i have a D80 for almost 1 year now):
- auto focus type (+ for D300)
- max shutter (+ for D300)
- continuous drive (+ for D300)
- movie clips (+ for D90)
- time lapse recording (+ for D300)
- storage types (++ for D90, can retain SD/SDHC)
- weight (++ for D90)
- dimension (++ for D90)
- live-view (+ for D90)

and of course the actual selling price which is yet to be available for D90 locally.

i may have missed some important features (GPS?) since i am still very much a newbie :cool:

from the pdf file

Extensive in-camera Retouch Menus
The D90's wide variety of image editing functions makes it possible for you to enhance your pictures without the need for a computer, making creative exploration easier than ever.

The editing menus
• Straighten (manual control in +/–5 degree)
• Distortion Control (automatic compensation using lens information and manual compensation selectable)
• Fisheye (optical effects similar to a fisheye lens, select from 10 levels)
• D-Lighting
• Red-eye Correction
• Trim
• Monochrome
• Filter Effects
• Color Balance
• Small Picture
• Image Overlay
• NEF (RAW) Processing
• Quick Retouch

actually if i am not wrong it should be the other way around
let me check

Yup, it's the other way round.. But I think it would be useful to implement defish. It should not be that difficult to map images shot with the FE10.5mm into a rectilinear ultrawide. Some food for thought for Nikon. If possible I'd even like to see it in the next firmware upgrade for D300, D60, and definitely the D90. Future bodies should even incorporate Liveview-defish.

Why "live-view (+ for D90)"?

Why "live-view (+ for D90)"?
it has a smoother, 24fps live view than previous Nikon live views which were like 15fps (I believe the rate for previous cameras)...

Ok thanks. not too important to me. :D

But it doesn't have handheld mode AF.

SLR let you take good pic ...Video cam let you take good video...why mix them up;)

once again i have to say, does having video feature in dSLR mean lower still capture quality? :dunno:
