He's not just a lot smarter, he quite brilliant, literally. For myself, I'm just quite disappointed when he decides to side with Ah Bian. Cast a serious doubt on his loyalty towards truth & knowledge.
oh yar, just a point to note. He made his fortune sueing the butts off people... just tot this pt. might be of interest
Sjourn said:U mean he is so smart that he can call a nation of people stupid.? and only people who know him can make comments and look smart and not silly? ...:what:
evq said:Everyone is smart in his/her own way.
But nobody is that smart to call others stupid.
Can he take beautiful pictures as those taken by CSers????
I believe many here can do a better job using a P&S camera than him using a highend SLR.
LKY called Taiwn people stupid?:bsmilie:Shadus said:No comments. pls review wht he really said in its context.
As i've mention, i remember LKY said something similar.
Shadus said:again, no comments. coz tht's not what he meant. as mentioned, he's a philosopher. philosophers are not in the habit of competition of whose better. plus, this guy is already past the age whereby he needs to compare himself to others.

This means we are over-taxed, effectively. Should you be overjoyed if someone overcharges you for a service, then gives you a "rebate"?
barracuda said:i guess singaporeans must be stupid; otherwise, the garment need not spend money to set up the CPF board to 'help' us manage our finance;p ( dun take what i said too seriously though)

solarii said:Hmmm not to side with anybody... or start a S'Pore vs. Taiwan thing.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong... my history is a little rusty.
Now wasn't Taiwan formed after the communists chased the guo min tang out of china? And IIRC they were once the govt of china till the commies came along.
So while what he says as a philosopher or academic may be true (and I say may... I'm not agreeing with him), has he thought of his own country men and their heritage.
At the very least we're recognised as an independent nation by the world, be we fools or idiots or inferior stock. We don't have china threatening to invade us, nor do we have to bribe poor nations to recognise us, nor do we have countries test firing missiles off our coast.
And if a nation of fools can declare independence 41 yrs ago, how come taiwan's still a proxy of china?
Shadus said:ooh. u dun really want to hear wht this guy had said about his own countryman. i kinda suspect this is how he got rich... haha. by antagonising others into a mistake and then sueing them off their 7 generation of riches.
anyway, lets not take it in a defensive mode as SGians like to do so. He is not trying to defend his country by puting other pple down. nor is he trying to say taiwanese are better than others.
Jia Wang said:Hahah... jus saw on chinese news jus now... he was interviewed and was asked about his 'insult' to S'pore...
He said that S'poreans very cute... He claimed that he condemned PRC Chinese, they didn't say anything... he condemned Hong Kong people, they didn't utter a word... he condemned Taiwaneses, they also didn't retaliate... But when he 'condemned' S'poreans, we were the only ones who responded so furiously...
He said he won't comment further... BUT, if the S'pore government is interested, or if any S'pore universities are keen to invite him, he'll rise to the occassion and come alone to face Singaporeans to address this issue...
hahahahah... I think Shadus is right to say that he's gonna make a windfall if anyone here is stupid enough to invite him here... LOL :bsmilie:
