A dedicated scanner is quite ex...so in my case, I bought a Canon flatbed-scanner that acts as both film and normal scan (Canoscan 8600). The downsidde is tht it can only scan 12 negatives at one time. Quite decent output once you know how to use it (max output of 4800X9600 dpi). Bought mine at around $350.

You can find dedicated film scanners off the buy and sell section at 200-300 plus bucks. Only thing is that they can only scan 6 frames at one time. Only thing i dun like about flatbeds are that the calibration may be off and produce soft images.
