Probably too much JPEG compression. It takes effort to shoot out of focus picts with the GX100 in bright daylight :bsmilie:

hmmm are the first 2 pics bit out of focus?

In fact, most of my pics are outta focus.

I'm real bad when shooting w these PnS via the LCD of course. I juz simply can't control them when they're away from my body. Datz why I've never fancy PnS. My other half does better tho. :bsmilie:

Er updated OK but cannot remember what I did as it did not work for the first time following their instructions than I thought it is a bit stupid to just copy the 2 files when you downloaded so many (including th .bin files) and copy all of them but not to the root as I think it also did not work.
I think I copied all the files to the DCIM folder and it worked after that.

sigh... tried all methods and still won't update... i give up. the latest firmware functions dun really matter to me anyway... :complain:

Format your SD card first than connect the USB cable to your cam. Just drag the files Slaunch3 and Slaunch7 to the RICOHDCX mount. Do not put the files inside the DCIM folder. After that just follow the instructions on the camera.

Did u turn the dial to "Movie Mode" before pressing the "Play" & "Mode" buttons?

Or did u pressed Play & Macro instead of Play & Mode buttons?

No offense...

the quality of the photos i see here like so bad like that...

i followed the instructions to the T... sigh. nevermind, since i dun really need the update anyway.

Yeah.. Itz bad alrite! I've never use a PnS so I dunno how they actually performed. But having tried diz one, I'm quite satisfied. Of course I dun expect dSLR quality.

I'm more into film tho. So most pics from a dSLR also looks bad to me. But then, when I tried one, the images turn out not too bad either. But of course they're incomparable to film...

So far so good, very happy with it. No trace of purple fringing, sharp from corner to corner. Best P&S I ever had :)

Very nice indeed! And sharp too! Didn't expect diz from a PnS. I'm terribly bad w PnS tho. Can never hold them steadily. Juz not used to shootin thru the LCD. Perhaps itz juz me... :dunno:

Right out from camera. Only resized. Very good PnS.

Hmm... maybe you moved the camera after focus lock? If you don't move the cam too much from the close up subject after AFL, the GX100 should capture a sharp pict. How about using the EVF?

If its consistently turning out off focus picts I think you should get it checked.

Thanx for the response. My wife and son did a great job. Think itz juz me. I'm learning to use PnS. Especially shooting from LCD. Hmm... maybe shud try using the EVF...
