the promotion is still on just checked with them

I went to the counter yesterday and there was a sign saying 'last day' for free extended warranty. Anyway thats good news... those who are still thinking about it... MAI TU LIAO!

Btw, for those who have bought the GX100.
Reading the details, it stated that the hood is 43mm thread.
Not sure if there is 43mm filter selling around.

Guys I bought a 43 - 46mm step up ring and guess what it does not fit. I'll have to go back tomorrow and I'll bring the tube to test this time.

yes... for some unknown reason only known to those ricoh engineers, they decided to make the original lens cap just a little bigger than the tube diameter.... :complain:

'brilliant' engineering skill, i tell u... :mad2:

i heard that TCW might have 3rd party lens caps dat fit.

Sorry false alarm. They sales person gave me the wrong ring. 43mm is right. BTW the original lens cap fits on to the 46mm end of the ring perfectly.

bought one on 30 May 2007 from MS colour including all the freebies but quite pissed when i found that bag is not included (unlike GRD) ;( .... so went to CP to shop for the original bag ...... CP told me that the orginal bag still not available as camera still very new...when they asked me how much i bought the camera they were quite shock at MS's offer ...they even asked me 3 times to confirm!!!

actually.....got a few doubts after reading dpreview forum ....a lot of ppl gave negative feedback on the camera just like canon G7 .... but what the heck just enjoy shooting!!!

shocked as in too cheap or too expensive?

How's the image quality compared to the GRD? Anyone have both and compared prints side by side? I played around with one yesterday and the images looked like there was alot of noise reduction even at low ISOs. Looking at the LCD screen the images looked a little smeared. So looks like less noise compared to the GRD but softer. Any way to turn off the noise reduction? Guess could be different if the images were view on the computer screen and printed out.

Try shooting in RAW, that should turn off all NR ...

anyone tried the movie mode? i'll be replacing my f31fd with a gx100 but don't know whether it might be a good move. i'll be shooting my toddler and sometimes need to record movies of her. :)

Bro, the raw mode abit slow lei...
Actually when view from PC, the images are not that soft.

Just a few days old and theres already a v1.12 firmware update for the GX100. Nothing major.

http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/download/firmware/gx100/

Revision history

Date Version Details
2007.05.02 1.12 Modified the following phenomena.
• If you register the Aperture priority mode (A mode) in the [My setting 2], a shutter speed will be fixed.
• With your setting the [SEQUENTIAL NO.] is ON, after a file number reached to "9999", the "File Number Over" message will appear and you will not able to take a picture any more.
[Note] You can see the current file number in the LCD (page 23 of the Camera User Guide), for the details of the [SEQUENTIAL NO.] is available in page 159 of the Camera User Guide.

Ah Yah No wonder. I was trying last night to set AP into MY2 setting and it always default to Program mode. This explains it.

I borrowed the GX100 to play around again and i think using the LCD screen, when you zoom in to the max (16x) it's actually viewing the image at 150% and not 100%. Zoomed to about 9.8x its 100% (i compared the image viewed at 100% on the computer screen). Which would kinda explain why the images seem soft and smeared when zoomed in all the way. Anyone else can confirm this?

The GRD LCD when zoomed in to max seems to be true 100%. I like it that you can zoom in to max with just 2 presses of the button but using the GX100, to view at true 100% you'd have to press buttons 4 times.

The RAW writing times actually quite fast. 5-6secs.

Thanks Alan Yeo,

Then the guy behind the phone does not know what he is talking about. I asked him 3 times, are you sure the optical viewer finder is included? Yes, Yes, Yes.:bsmilie:

Anyway, will go down later to pick one up.

The 'roadshow' sales were handled by staff from the agent (APD/Sigma?) The actual MSC staff don't seem too familiar with the GX100 because its so new so maybe they're just confused between EVF and OVF.

Also I think the EVF/WA/Adapter kit isn't in stock yet (next monday according to APD).
