Any reports on the P5100 image quality ?

It is a shame that the P5100 does not have RAW, but it is not quite a camera I would compare with something like the G9.

My reason for this is that I look at the P5100 as being a good quality P&S camera with manual control.

The G9, as well as useable as a P&S camera (but heavier and bigger) is more like a DSLR without the "SLR" :bsmilie:

Huh :dunno:

I mean it like this..... I would use the G9 in a studio and for landscape where I might have used a DSLR.

The P5100 I would use as a walk around P&S camera.

In a nut shell, I would use the G9 in situations where the controll of RAW would be needed.

The P5100 would be for photography that doesn't require such PS work.

Hope this is not too scatty an observation :)

Cheers.

Hello guys, do you find that after inserting the neck strap, it is quite difficult to put the camera into the pouch provided? Or you dont put the neck strap at all?;p

I don't think I would like a camera hanging from my neck.

A wrist strap is probably the only thing I would like attached to my camera, maybe.

Though, I will admit that I use neither a neck strap for my DSLR or a a lens cap strap, also no wrist strap for my P&S.

It bothers me to have things dangeling from a camera. Also makes me focused on looking after it.

So far, I have not dropped a camera or scratched a lens :)

Not at all. I agree with your views here. If 5100 has RAW, it will definitely be a serious contender with the G9, GX100, and LX2. But then again, it will be priced higher also.

I am looking for a "serious" PnS to complement my DSLR and 5100 might be it. Thanks.

yerp, with the neck strap it's really difficult to put the camera in the porch provided. that's y i'm looking for another one. haha.

Hi, I've noticed that there are 2 types of camera case for P5100, may I know which type of camera case comes with your camera?

Black. The old one??

Hi rredline,

The brown case looks good. Is it sold at Mobile01 ?

Would you possibly have access to a product number or description so I can search for it here.

I would rather like to get one and Nikon here doesn't list it.

Cheers :)

it works well in bad light too

Hi Pablo, I think the brown case comes together with P5100 in Taiwan only. I've never seen this case in SG and I do not know the product number. :)

With so many nice pictures Ortega had posted, I'm tempted to get one to replace my PnS.

For me, I'm happy also with low-light handling. Taken without flash, my personal preference.

Do you guys get the black case when you brought your P5100? Mine is silver. And it is a very lousy case.

Hi ahandre,

That is quite impressive for no flash

There is no exif information available within the picture.

Care to share a couple of settings used for this shot ? just for interest sake.

The P5100 is definately a good camera.

Better than the P3+4 in my opinion as a p&s camera.

Cheers and thanks for sharing your photo :)

OT. ortega you have definately convinced many people that the camera can produce great photo's I am shure :)

Here Nikon don't supply a case with it.

It is up to the seller to include one, "if they are friendly enough :bsmilie:".

I have always liked Lowepro and will include one to suit.

Mind you I would like to stock one that has the word Nikon on it

Cheers :)

i am still getting to know the camera
and will share more as i find out what it can and cannot do

Hi ortega,

I am shure we will be as impressed as we are now with your ability for getting the best from a camera.
