Can anyone list down the names of the photographers he mentioned ? I have a poor memory and wish to know more about the people that he held in high regard as photographers.

Btw, thks to the organizers for this talk. Really enjoyed it.

He mentions many masters ...

Here are some lists.

Don't just find out about their photographs, or body of works, but about their lives. That's can be a lot more useful.

One of the first names he mentioned was Gordon Parks, because not only was he one of the most influential American photographers, but a whole lot of other things as well, and very seccessfully. If you can, get a copy of his auto-biography from the public library.

Many Thks for the advise and the list. Looks like lots of reading to do:sweat:

Ernst Haas was one name I remember being mentioned

he mentioned to care more about composition and quality of work rather than equiptment (comments to that effect) ...... otherwise you'll end up with highly detailed rubbish :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

highly detailed rubbish indeed

the creative eye triumphs almost everything. well except ppl with pants dropped.:)

My guess is...more SB-900 heh..

I also remembered this quote from him, i cant remember the exact words but it goes something like this :

Camera companies, like Nikon (he puts his hands together and bows) are giving us the digital dream..."hey here's a camera with more megapixels than before. Does that help you take a better picture? No, what it gives is more highly detailed garbage. The difficulty in getting a good photograph is just as hard today as it was back then. "

I like this quote a lot. Too many people have told me something like "My phone camera sucks because it's only got 2 megapixels. " The megapixel race has made every other consumer think that more megapixels equate to better pictures, but we all know this is not true.

Regards
CK

I have written an aftermath article and its available here.
