Quite surprised to see this bird at Chinese Garden. The last time I saw one was in Sungei Buloh.

27/02/11: Remember the old local martial arts film?​

Just the good old pavailion at Chinese Garden. Just reminded me of the good old days whereby SBC/TCS (now Mediacorp) film crappy martial arts film at these "chinese" locations. Another famous location was at Tang Dynasty (no longer available).

The 18-200mm distortion is a headache to me at times.

28/02/11: Sunrise @ Pandan Reservoir​

Time flies and (whew) here is the last day of February. Shall end of the 2nd month of this year long project with 3 photos of sunrise I took at Pandan Reservoir.

Woke up late and reached there with only a few minutes to setup. Used HDR setting to bring out the colours of underexposed grass and flowers. (I am not good at landscape...still got alot to learn).

01/03/11: Coloured glass​

The challenge I set to myself for March would be to find ways to produce pictures on the theme: "Glass & Water". So I guess it would be a month long full of boring pictures on glass and water.

05/03/11: Nuts about Glass​

Thought of adding some elements (other than water) to the empty glass bottle and I used a packet of nuts found at home. Attempted two different post process treatment but I still like B&W version alot more.

07/03/11: Water droplet (1)​

Close up macro shots of water droplets.

So difficult to focus manually and I have to hold on to the source of water using my hand so I have no precise control of where the droplet will land.

Not enough light to achieve fast shutter so have to bump ISO to 400 which is like a danger zone for 500D.

Only managed to get two acceptable images after countless of tries. I guess I need proper tools to hold the objects rather than just using my own hands. A pity that my camera isn't that great with noise control at ISO 400 and beyond.

09/03/11: Separating light from darkness​

Glass is capable of reflecting light, allowing light to "shine" instead of being absorbed into darkness.

Tried extreme B&W to contrast more between light and dark, not sure if it works.

10/03/11: Hoegarden​

Somehow I just prefer to drink from glass bottles to metal cans. They just taste kinda different. Hoegarden seems to give me a sweet after taste, that's why it gave me a good impression when I first tried it.
